Does anyone insure their race bikes? and if so, how? A rider on home owners or vehicle insurance? Considering how much $$ some people put into their racers, I'd imagine that you'd at least want theft coverage on it.

I was wondering the same thing a while back. I looked into adding it to renter insurance, but they didn't want to do it and kept telling me to get motorcycle insurance. Obviously you cant get MC insurance on a race bike. I finally found a place called Ace Insurance I believe. They had a minimum of 60K worth of coverage to start a policy. I'm still interested in finding something if I can though.

i know progressive insures "race vehicles" under its own type of policy....I think when I got a quote it came to about $5k/yr haha
Mine are insured except the 03 R6 because it has a salvage title. The new R6 and the Aprilia are covered for theft and fire only. I'll check, but I think it was around $110 a year. It' kind of like an ATV type policy. Allstate.
You can make a difference!

Thanks for the information....I'll have to check out Allstate then. I called Amica (where we have our home and vehicle insurance) and I was pretty much told that it wasn't going to happen....and this came from a representative that actually knew that a Ducati was a motorcycle. She advised me to check out "local" insurance agents as I'd have better luck with them. We'll see....![]()
