Pros and cons to switching to a GP tail on the race bike?
For what it's worth, keep in mind that the SV is also my primary track day bike.

I'm not sure there is one. Last year my seat and tail on the SV unbolted with two bolts a piece. This year my superbike tail will unbolt with 4; so no gains there. *Maybe* a weight savings but then again the stock seat (shaved) doesn't really weigh a whole hell of a lot to begin with. The superbike tails tend to be a tad more narrow but my seat was shaved both on the top and the sides anyway.....
Shrug...
I'm not sure.

cons: on a race/trackday bike, none.
pros: you get much better feel for what's going on. cushy stock seats deaden your ability to tell what's really happening with the bike. I've raced a sv with a stock seat. it felt like a f-ing couch... which is nice for commuting, but sucks for racing imo.

i agree with SMF.
I had the supersport tail w/ stock seat. for the first half this season
Put on the SB tail with a small snatch patch. Way better feel and was easier to switch back and forth on the seat. Going to stay with the SB tail from now on
I've been thinkin about making the switch to a SB tail, but the stocker works fine for me right now... plus Armour Bodies doesn't make a SB tail, just the SS tail.

Wouldn't going with an SB tail save weight, since you'll have to shorten up the subframe?
Who makes a SB tail for the SV (preferably 1st gen) anyway? Or would you have to use one from another bike, like a GSX-R?
so i did some searching and found one http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...star-2-pc.html
all our svs have superbike tails

I have an armour bodies sbk tail from a gsxr 1000 that I'm going to try to fit onto an R&R subframe. I tried to trial fit it on a BRG subframe but the subframe was too tweaked to make any definite conclusions.
