I want to do the Friday afternoon practice on the orange bike just to see what it's like compared to my YZ and I was wondering if I had to fully prep the bike the same as a racebike? Will I be ok if I just replace the coolant with water and just drill the oil drain bolt or do I have to drill everything? Every time I've done the afternoon practice all they seemed to look for in tech was a clean place to put the sticker![]()
Also, if I wanted to run both the YZ and KTM, will they give me 2 stickers?
Thanks

What question are you saying yes to?Originally posted by hardcore

Friday practice is run by penguin and I believe they have a person from penguin tech do it so you just need to pass normal track day safety stuff. E-mail the penguin people and ask.

This is from the penguin site and the students run in open practice so I guess these are the guidlines that need to be followed?
Tape up the lights and toss a number on it and we'll see another Motahd out there Chad
Motorcycle Preparation
Your motorcycle should most importantly be clean and oil tight. Tires that are in good condition (50% tread or more) are a must. You should remove your mirrors, tape up all of your lights, and it's a good idea to cover up your speedometer (helps focus on the track). We also highly recommend removing your side stands, although it is not required. Be aware that they can drag on most bikes. You also need to remove all of your antifreeze and replace it with water or approved race coolant. If you plan to ride to the track, leave yourself a minimum of 30 minutes to prepare your bike in the morning

As long as they come back in the exact same condition as they leave in and I get to run one of them in all my sessions, you can try themOriginally posted by Paul_E_D
I'd like to test those 2 bikes as well. Just to see what I'm up against and all...
Thanks Mark!![]()

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Kinda similiar question.
If I was gonna ride someone else's bike in practice (Sat & Sun Practice, Not Friday) and they run red sticker Amateur and I run in blue sticker Novice....what do i need to do?
I can put white number plates and my red numbers on no problem, but what about getting a blue practice sticker if they already have a red one? Should I just go over to tech and tell them I need a blue sticker with the bike?
I just sold my race bike, and somehow I have 2 bikes to ride next weekend at the track.
I like this newer system I found better![]()

Are you entering a race with their bike as well? I'm pretty sure you'll need to enter a race to get a tech sticker, then the transpoder..etcOriginally posted by Nazo

to be fair, you did crash the borrowed bike twice, right?Originally posted by Paul_E_D
You won't like the system when you total one of the bikes. I had a 3500 dollar afternoon using just this system! I came away with a crashed up bike though. Raced it for 2 years.
Make CLEAR agreements with the owners about what happens if you taco the bike.![]()

yeah, well after the his first crash on it, the owner never thought in a million years he'd do it again, so we fixed it up and sent him back out in his next race.It was a funny kind of event that weekend, prolly for everyone involved except for Paul.
On the otherhand, you did end up with a pretty decent bike, right?![]()
