You're not racing anymore?

Oh boy, here we go.
I can't understand how they'll be able to tell if I fill up at the Sunoco right down the street from me, or from the one up there. I don't run "dangerous" fuel, I either run Mobil or Sunoco, whichever one's CHEAPER at the time. I hope they won't be checking my gas receipts.![]()
Something is amiss here. Why wouldn't they just test to ensure your running say... 93 octane or less? Why skip over this and go straight to mandating we buy from certain gas stations? Backing us into a corner like this doesn't give me any warm fuzzies as the LRRS organization has screwed me a few times and let me tell you... they didn't use any vaseline.
LRRS might suck, and some of the things that go on behind closed doors there might be a bit shady. But it's still the only show in town and still fun. I could care less what they impliment as rules and soforth. I'll still go give them my money. It's fun sucking at something so bad....and still seeing others suck even worse.

What about us RICH guys that want to spend the $25/gallon? I'm pissed I race to spend money !!!! I will pay the local gas station the $25/gallon just to make me feel like I'm buying race gas.
One thing about VP gas is it's almost all Leaded. So if I need a Octane of 92 Leaded how does that compaire to a unleaded octane?
I believe leaded fuel is easier on the valve seats.
Any ruling on fuel 'additives'?![]()
each different fuel company gets its' street legal gas from the same supplier in this region + then adds its' own additives to it(many being the same additives), so without extensive laboritory testing (which means $$$$$),
ALL pump gas WILL test out the same (for what lrrs is looking for)!!
Guys, practically everyone buys gas at the Sunoco down the street already, what's the problem? Look at the spirit of the law... they don't want us using race gas... and for good reason, IMO. But regardless of what I think, that's the whole point of this - No Race Gas... Do you guys think there's ANY chance in hell that they'll really fine you if you use Mobil 87, 91, 93 or whatever instead of Sunoco 87 91, 93, 100 or whatever? Probably not. We're jumping to conclusions that they will when we don't know that for a fact.
This rule isn't gonna change a damn thing for me... I'm STILL gonna get 87 from the Sunoco down the street. Maybe I'll have to wait 5 minutes to use the pumps, but I doubt it. If I do, whatever, I think I'll live.
Mark... Yeah, I'm friends w/ Alex, but all he's done here is try to help explain the new rule to the club racers of NESR. Since you've so proudly proclaimed yourself as wanting nothing to do w/ LRRS, I don't see why you should give a shit about this new rule, or what anyone here thinks about it.

well i'm fucked. the NSR needs leaded fuel of atleast 105 octane, preferably 110. WTF i don't have the cash to go out and buy unleaded heads.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

What-ever. Again, its going to be a problem for some people, but a nice levelling for others. I will agree that buying it from a SPECIFIC gas station will get kinda lame, when your waiting in line with everyone else to get gas from the same place in the AM, but... meh.
Don't like it? There are other racing circuits out there.
Personally, all my bikes need (at a maximum) 93 octane, so its no sweat off my brow (and probrobly a lot of other peoples).
I will miss the smell of Oxygenated race gas in the paddock though.
They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell

2-strokes are exempt!!! I really wish people would read a rule before they comment on it. This stuff spins out of control so fast it's not funny.
The spirit of the rule favors the budget racer over the contingency hunters. How anyone here can have a problem with that is BEYOND me. This same list Whined to high heaven over the fact that a few "pros" win all the championships, and now they take one advantage away from those guys, and you see it as an affront. That's what I call PARANOIA. But hey, what do I know, my wife is the one who works in the psych ward.![]()
Getting rid of race fuel is not the issue. Telling us what gas station we can buy it from seems out of line to me. The arguement that they won't enforce that part of the rule is junk. If that's the case why are they going to specify it??
Let me also point out that "nine out of ten people I know" is not a fact based statistic.
If the rule is setup for health reasons fine. Then it doesn't matter what station we get our 87 or 93 from. And who chooses to spend the extra cake on the gas is not a factor either. Should I decide to buy a brand new bike or race my 5 year old bike is a decision I make that effects the performance of MY equipment on the track at a cost to ME. I switched myself from VP to pump a while ago, and i will not be told I can only buy gas at one station.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
The reason given was to allow for testing. I don't know what the "test" involves, but apparently more than sniffing. They said it won't read the same from station to station. They have been researching it for a while, so I'd be willing to bet there's something to that. If not, I'd agree taht it's not a good move.
You guys are like freedom fighters! God save the free market!
LRRS recently announced that LRRS teams would switch to unleaded racing fuel by the start of the 2007 season. This is a significant development for LRRS teams as they have long been the target of environmental groups. This change is possible because of a partnership between the Environmental Protection Agency, Woodco and LRRS.
Street bike manufacturers began switching to unleaded fuel in 1971. However, the high-octane racing fuel that LRRS teams use still contains environmentally-unfriendly lead.
LRRS has been researching unleaded racing fuels for years but until now has never been able to find a mixture that works for race teams. Current unleaded racing fuels all caused damage to racing engines.
This switch is now possible because Woodco researchers have come up with a new formulation called Woodco 260 GTX. This new formula still provides great racing performance but without damaging LRRS engines like common unleaded racing fuels do.
While many believe that this change is long overdue it really has only recently become possible due to advanced technology and research at Woodco.
This is a true win/win situation as LRRS is able to do its part for the environment and the EPA while protecting the quality of its on track product. The best news of all? Race fans will not even know the difference.![]()
It's true 'csuse I heard it on the internets.

This is a non issue for me...w00t!!!!
In all reality the test will be to dip some chemically treated test strip in your tank. if it turns X color your good if it turns Y color your fugged.
Seriously this could turn out to be fun. We can all pile into the back of some pickup truck with some beer and our gas cans and have a party at the station down the road. We will take it over Hells Angel style!!!!!![]()
Sunoco 260 GTX is a racing fuel that will only be available at the track.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
ok oops. i was in a rush to get to class this morning and just skimmed through. in my haste i missed the two-strokes exempt part. i was figuring this might be the case. most 2 smokers wouldn't even make it to pre-grid on pump gas without seizing.
i still think it's a dumb idea. i'd imagine a jumbo jet doing a boston to L.A. run once produces more air pollution than we do in whole season. fucking greenies. oh and who the heck is woodtech to tell us what fuel is best for our motors, how do they know what's been done to each particular motor?
