If you guys really think fuel is going to make it more competitive your crazy. The race gas adds 3-4 HP that's it. I'm going from a 150 HP bike to a 120 HP bikes so does that mean I'll be doing 1:18's again (if it does you won't see me racing much this year). The same people will continue to win !!!
The thing that bothers me is the fact it's one more thing I have no control over. I don't think anyone likes to be told what they can and can't buy with their own money. Shit my wife works hard so I can race :)

From Jerry Wood on the near list (Yahoo! groups; NEAR)
Gang,
There is a movement to change the way that we do practice at LRRS. If
implemented, this would be a dramatic change from the way that we do it
now. When we have a proposal ready, I would like to post it here for
discussion and feedback BEFORE we make the changes. The rider reps are
working on it now along with Eric.
What we need now is a membership drive to NEAR so we can get an opinion
from as many folks as possible. Please ask everyone on the other lists
and riders who normally don't bother to participate. Tell them that
most of the real meatballs went away and this might be a useful tool
for feedback.
They can get it digest form and we will title it "practice".

That is how I'd like to hear of proposed changes.

The way things work there....We usually don't hear about "proposed changes" until they are final and implimented.

no race fuel is fine with me but i agree with most on here that a specific gas station is absurd. what happens when that gas station hikes the price every race weekend?

Fuel station prices are regulated by the state. They can't just bump the price when they want to.

ummm.. i dont think so
i know a guy that delivers gas to gas stations. and at every stop he has to call in to find out how much to charge as it changes from stop to stop. there are 3 gas stations on 108 near my G/Fs work, all different brands (no name, global, and shell) they all get their gas from the same truck and they all get different prices.(most of the time) i used to drive past the shell to go to the No Name for gas that was usually $.10 cheaper

I believe pricing reports are sent to a regulator commission and unusual spikes and such are monitored
-

yeh, it'd be pretty easy to bust em if they raised prices for race weekends.

The fuel pricing is controled by the oil company, not the station owner...that's why the driver is calling in for pricing when he makes the delivery. You'd be suprised at how little a gas station makes per gallon, $.06/gallon self serve if they are lucky and sell volume...at least that's how Shell was when I worked for them.
You're not going to see any huge price jumps, the traffic a LRRS weekend would draw to that station is nothing compared the tourist traffic..which is going to sell a LOT more volume.

This seems uncalled for in the manner its being presented on this post......we'll see this summer how obscure it really is.

Hi Nat, haven't talked to ya in a while. As of right now, the VP guys won't be there.
Got a new calender for me??:naughty :naughty

To my knowledge fuel pricing is done by the station owners, corporate or private. Most branded stations are owned by the oil companies and leased to the operator, who runs the site. They can't buy from other suppliers, brands. Shell is selling Shell, Mobile is Mobile. I'm not exactly sure how the distribution system works, small independents buy from who ever they want, surplus gas from Shell, whoever. In a tight supply, such as Katrina, independents tend to get screwed as branded stations get first dibs. Only making 5 or 6 cents a gallon, kinda sounds like a auto dealer selling cars at invoice. You don't stay in business long if you sell shit for what it supposedly cost you.

Hey Mike!
Too bad for the VP guy, I was gonna go down in april to get a 15 gallon. Does anyone know where I can get some from on my way down to Loudon?
As for the calendar :naughty I can even send you one by mail if you'd like, I think it's cheapper to send to the US than 5 miles from my house! We have very limited quantities this year. I have 50 left and I'm going to the Montreal bike show next weekend.

Hey Nat,
I would also like a calander for the new year. Got your trips planned out this year? I would think you can get some VP delivered, if not to Canada to somewhere in the US that you can pick it up from.
Oh, and station owners DO set the prices. My friend worked at a station for years and would drive down the road to check the prices at the other stations so that the owner could decided what he wanted to charge every couple days.

They sell VP right down the street from me on rt 125 in Epping, NH. I think it's because of New England Dragway being close by.
I want a calendar too! Please check you PM's.
