sweet looking bike but this line was still funny as hell
More tests are on the cards in preparation for a serious assault in WSB and home market race series.

    Yet more pix...

Man I am loving the lines of this bike.

    From MCN:

"A new beam frame (wrapping around the engine, rather than routing over the cylinder head as on the current machine, an underbraced swingarm and different engine casings are visible. The current bike has a short swingarm and long frame – the new bike will be the opposite to solve the traction issues plaguing race teams across the globe.

Sophisticated traction control will be standard, and a state-of-the-art dashboard will have road and race modes – race mode will hide all non essential information, like speed and the odometer, in favour of making the lap timer, rev-counter and traction control information more prominent."

    Yes Please.

    Re: New ZX-10R Shakedown...

I could easily see myself trading in my '09 for one of these (maybe a '12 model). I absolutely love my bike, despite the fact it's not popping up on podiums around the world, but this could finally be the 'ultimate' one Kawi fans were pining for.

Interesting to see they went back to a traditional frame, rather than the current "up-and-over" design. I think the current setup was mainly to make it easier to ride on the street, but it's obviously causing chassis issues. I think the 10R already feels small (though a bit porky), but getting it down to the size of a middleweight would be a godsend.

The only issue I'd see is if Kawi prices it too high. The current bike is $12,999, so I'd guess the new one will be around $14-15k. That's pretty steep, close to RSV4/1198 territory. But if the performance is there, it just might be worth it.

    Re: New ZX-10R Shakedown...

I can't see Kawi pricing it beyond their competition (Jap bikes) by much. One thing I've always loved about Kawi is their machining prowess, I remember when their GP bike was sporting a block machined entirely from a solid piece of billet. Holy crap was that hawt. Hoping to see some trick touches on this bike, and to see how their TC stacks up.

they better come to the plate swinging for the fences cause the new BMW is outstanding in terms of build quality. I've been told even the bolts are very high quality pieces, the heads are CNC from the factory, they're coming out with a "slick" mode plug in which is more racey than the "race" mode already programmed into the bike.

I don't discriminate, Judy. I'd say the same thing if it were a Suzuki.

Looks like they had Tom Sykes as the development rider as well. Kawasaki has made no bones they view the S1000RR as the benchmark.

    Re: New ZX-10R Shakedown...

Rumored to most likely be just a minor glitch in the advanced traction control software. Probably be fixed in no time, but worst case scenario is they use a less complex (cheaper) system.
