So, looking into buying some frame sliders for the CBR. Is there any solid reason to get aluminum vs. any of the polymer sliders? Is there a reason to get a specific polymer rather than another one?
Sorry. I'm an idiot.
I recommend Woodcraft. I went with the plastic pucks. You can bling it out with the aluminum colored pucks if you like.

I don't particularly care about "bling" but I've found some vortex sliders with aluminum pucks for about the price of the Woodcraft bases.
The Woodcraft pucks page shows that the aluminum ones are more than the polymer ones. Is that just based on "bling" factor or is there another consideration?
Honestly we aren't talking about much of a price difference, but I'm a cheap bastid. The replacement vortex pucks are "inline" in terms of cost with the Woodcraft pucks. From what I can tell I'd have to be almost as deep into the vortex ones to get into the "center screw" as I would to get into the "set screw" on the Woodcraft.
I don't mind spending a little more money on "the right thing" when it's the right thing, but I hate wasting money on stuff that isn't worth it (hence the cheap bastid comment).
I do understand the point of frame sliders, and have managed to ignore the $12 ones on fleabay. The Woodcraft certainly seem to be quality products. Are the Vortex ones OK, are they crap?

Delrin. From what I understand, it slides/wears better on pavement and is less likely to catch and flip the bike during a slide.
going Woodcraft means you also support a local company. and you'd have the things the next business day most likely

Yeah the aluminum is just for looks. As far as practical performance, the Delrin ones do better.
Love the woodcraft design. Very clever and work great. Crash tested a few times now.

I would buy the Woodcraft sliders for the same reasons Oreo mentions above. They are easy to fit and will protect your bike if/when you crash.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Woodcraft it is (I just wish I could order with PayPal on their site... makes it easier for me to get away with accessory purchases).
As to Miles carrying them... not a factor. I'm not a racer.

Wow, I just saw this thread. Sounds like most of the guys have already shared their input and mine will be basically the same. The Delrin slider puck is smoother and lasts a long time after a crash. The aluminum does look nice for the "bling" factor (we do have some aluminum pucks in blue and chrome on our eBay store right now if you really feel like saving money). If you haven't ordered via the web yet, feel free to give a call, we can always talk you through your options. 978-297-2977

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
i had woodcrafts as well...great design...if the pucks get damaged you just replace the puck instead of having to totally remove them like most other designs...
