my bike is broken, and i don't know whats going on. if anyone can help me, thatd be great.
When i turn the key, nothing happens. the electronics dont turn on, the engine doesn't crank, the starter doesn't even click. Dead battery? nope...the battery is fine. i checked the fuses...fine too.
Then my friends pushed me and we got the bike started and running. It ran and idled choppy and didnt rev past 4k...but the kicker is that for the 15 min that it was running, the electronics didnt work. Every couple minutes the rpm gauge goes all the way up then down, and some lights on the dash flash...but most of the time its completely off.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? i'm all out of ideas....
please help
thanks guys
bad ground.. battery has to have ground to work. so just by checking the battery wont work. use a multi meter and check for continuity with the battery terminals to the chassis and to the fuse / distributor block.

Good advice. A buddy of mine had the same trhing happen. Had to have the bike picked up and brought in to the shop not to mention the nice "diagnostic fee" for a" bad ground" they told him he had.
i would be happy to look at it for you. my shop rate is $65 per hr. i have extensive electronics experience and could most likely figure it out in a jiffy. feel free to check out my reviews on here. i can even pick up the bike for you (fee dependent on location if in fact there even is one.) give me a call and we can figure out your best route of action if i cant figure it out over the phone.

Before you do anything.. Make sure your battery cables are tight.
Make sure your battery connections are tight and not filled with corrosion. Use a wire brush if needed to scrape away the metal contacts. Make sure it is tight.
If not...check your wires, make sure they are not frayed/ cut: because nothing is working, this will most likely be near the battery.
Definately check all the ground connections.
I also know that on 5th Gen VFRs the R/R will go bad and cause wacky electronics issues that seem like a dead battery.
I'm assuming your bike is a GSX-R, from your avatar.
