OK, since James (union) badgered me about being a pansy for not wanting to remove my rear wheel myself to bring it to GMD, I read my shop manual and discovered that my 9 year old could do it. So, I removed the wheel. (this is a HUGE deal for me):
My right wheel bearing is definitely toast. See the bits of metal for yourself:
I'm just happy that I made it home.
NICE...You are lucky you made it home and lucky you didn't mess anything else up.
Now that you have the tire off you should pop the bearing and replace it yourself. You can do it.![]()

Thats cool Chuck if your that hesitant your probably better off letting someone else do it. I just figured you could save yourself time and money. Plus the feeling you would have had doing it yourself. Oh well John we tried.![]()

You can get at least another year out of that!!!

Sheesh, the idiot who changed your tire last probably screwed up your wheel bearing.
Bearings are easy to install. Go for it Chuck!!!

If this were true, I wouldn't have gotten 6K out of it last season.
I actually lack the tools to pull the old bearings. I've screwed up skate bearings before and the result sicks. I'd hate to mess up the wheel bearing and have it go bad when I have my wife on the back of the bike.
Come on Bigred is close to you. He offered to help. Let him. the next time this happens you can take care of it yourself. The little bit of money you spend on fixing it will pay off in the long run. Tools you'll have for a long time and the knowledge you get from Bigred will be priceless. Minus a case of beer for Bigred. Shit... you can do this!![]()

Does anyone in close proximity to me (Blackstone, MA / Woonsocket, RI) have a triple tree stand, with a pin that would fit my bike, that I could borrow? I need to remove the front wheel as well to bring to Peter's to have the bearings replaced.
