Brake Fluid

The top of my master cylinder and every brake fluid bottle always says to use brake fluid from a 'sealed container'.

I can understand that you don't want to leave the top off the bottle for a month then put it into your reservoir. But if you have the cap on tight, and a few weeks pass between doing the brakes on a couple of bikes,can the brake fluid actually absorb enough moisture to be a problem for the second bike? Is it really open and discard whatever's leftover?

I buy one new container at the beginning of the season and use it all season long. Keep sealed of course, when not in use. It'll be fine. Just don't accidently use the wrong DOT grade. Ask me how I know.

Sounds to me like you'll be fine.

I've used two-month-old-open-but-capped brake fluid and have experienced no noticeable deterioration in braking quality.

b could absorb water but probably not
i chuck it after like a year

Yeah, I'm with theses guys (Even Rich )
After I'm done with a fresh bottle and have half left I thread the cap on halfway then squeeze all of the air out of the bottle and then tighten it down.
