I'm having a problem that has started over the last 2 weeks.
first off i'm driving around 40-45 mph and the bike suddenly starts to buck like i'm out of fuel. i check the gauge as it dies, and i've got half a tank.
i pull over and try to restart, it cranks but wont turn over. then i put in the choke and it fires up.
drive 40 feet, same thing. this time the choke doesnt make it turn over. i turn the key to off, then on and it fires up.
i drive to the gas stattion and top it off, and it runs fine and i get home.
few days past and it starts and run perfect. then suddenly i come out of work and try to start it and it wont start, i turn the key off then on, and it starts.
anyone have any ideas? battery? starter? something else?

Also check out the fuel filter located on the petcock inside the fuel tank.

I'm not really sure about the CV carbs or how to check the vacuum lines. i'll look at the maintenance book i have for it.
I checked the fuel filter reservoir, should that be nearly full?
Change your fuel line. The original fuel line may be collapsing on the inside. This fucking ethanol fuel likes to attack anything rubber.

IN my humble opinion it is rust flakes/ sludge build up on the tower of your petcock after 16 years of use.
Part number 92022 in this schematic. Don't ask me how I know.

Will it stay running if you leave the choke on? Sounds like what my zx1100 was doing. Took it to the dealer and got soaked a bunch for a thorough carb cleaning according to the mechanic.
it stays running with the choke on.
the thing its really more is cranking and not turning over, then i will turn the key off and on, and it will turn right over.
seems like it is doing it every 3-4 starts now. could it be the battery?
