Anybody out there ever re-valved a Showa upsidedown fork before? Specifically the rebound? I'm having trouble getting the valve out of the cartridge...
So far I have: drilled out the dimples and removed the "cap" of the cartridge; removed the circlip holding the top out spring
I can see another circlip, but access is impossible. Is there a way to push the valve out the bottom???
If I was you I would give them to kmf and let him do them. I would not feel safe trying to remember if I put them back together right. Never mind to fact that you have to know alot about the valves and shim stacks to get them to work good. He knows that well and has built some awesome forks.Originally posted by Paul_E_D
OK, if it goes out the bottom, then there is a collar that is peened on the rod that must be somehow released. I don't know how to do this. Any ideas?

I still can't believe the deal I got on them!Originally posted by kmf
Well it is amazing what you can do with $3k worth of Ohlins internals.![]()

They were cheaper them that!Originally posted by kmf
Well that would be the second time that a set of forks that had "$3k worth of Ohlins internals" were sold for $600.![]()

Yes, I read it. The rod will not push the piston out the bottom because there is a collar that stops it at the top out spring. I'm definitely in over my head here, and no one seems to know the set-up on this fork. It's a 35mm upsidedown showa from a 95 RS125.
Where are you located? What would you charge me to finish this job?
I am screwing them up and I just can't figure out how to get them back together.Originally posted by kmf
I am in Walpole, right up the street from Gillette Stadium.
When you ask me how much would I want to finish them, what exactly are you doing?J/k

OK, thanx meng. I'll just send to FoxOriginally posted by kmf
I have rebuilt some stock dirtbike shocks.
Some of the aftermarket shocks require a fair amout of specialty tools and I do not have enough of a calling for shock work to justify the expense of the tools.
If you need the shock serviced I would recommend Traxxion Dynamics.
