Find someone local who will let you borrow their chain tool. I have the motion pro which works fine but was kinda pricey for what it is (~$100). Tips: loosen the front sprocket nut before cutting the chain. Generally I just use a dremel to cut chains but if you need to break it properly grind the end before using the breaker..

The vfr has 23000 miles , original chain. This might be the only time I use this tool in 5 years , borrowing sounds good. I was looking at the rk chain tool on sprocket center.

Yeah to loosen the front sprocket it is easier to put the bike in gear and have someone hold the rear wheel or get an impact gun. The impact makes everything 3 million times easier, but you need a decent compressor and the gun.

The RK tool is great. Mine has been awesome and I know a few others that have been using it without a problem for years. Highly recommend. I have heard some not-so-great reviews about the Motion Pro chain tools in the same price range. Their Pro level stuff, however, is supposed to be pretty good.
