Clutch Pressure Plate Shattered

Dry Clutch, was leaking oil out the cover (which has a sound dampening gasket, not designed to have oil in it). Common problem on these bikes as a seal blows behind the clutch at the rod or something.

When they (BCM) took off the cover they found the pressure plate shattered. Why the hell would that happen???

Because you were beating the piss out of it at VIR for two days...backing it in, etc., etc. If you rode a solidly built gixxah, you'd avoid these problems and go faster on the track.

I didn't want to mention anything......BUT, someone at NJ told me they saw you doing inappropriate things to my bike.....now I find out the pressure plate was cracked.

The I see you doing inappropriate things with my helmet fan.

The fan is intended to cool, is it not? ...and it looked like my helmet fan.

If oil from a seal blew behind it, maybe the way the heat cycles happened it was in a way it wasn't meant to handle.

The oil behind it could have flash cooled it making it brittle. :shrug:

I'd think it'd require a lot of oil to quench the hot plate and cause it to turn brittle, but if that did happen it could definitely shatter. Usually it needs to cool in a hurry for any real molecular difference, no?
