does anyone here have an RSC Hyper-Pro stearing dampener? Heres the problem, Iwas pulling in to a gas station the other day and All of the sudden my stearing got really tight. I stopped and checked the adjuster on my Dampener and loosened it. This has never happened before. It seemed like the adjuster knob wasn't doing a whole lot and the Hyper pro randomly got tight and loose unless I turned the knob basically to the off setting. The adjuster is supposed to set the dampening sensitivity but the dampener seemed to be acting randomly. Has anyone with a HyperPro ever had this happen? could it be because of the amount of rain and temperature drop lately?? Thanks![]()
maybe the rain dampened your dampener...
It's "DAMPER"!!!!![]()

Problem possibly solved. It might be a viscosity issue. I talked to Hyperpro and the guy was really cool about the whole thing and said if it isn't a viscosity issue, to send it in and they will test & take care of it. SInce we just had a major drop in Temp. in Boston, The dampener is reacting tighter because of the thickness of the oil. When I turn it off, its basically ok. Solution: can't ride like a jackass in the cold weather. Also, take a heating pad, wrap it around the dampener, and then see how it reacts. If its back to normal, then its a viscosity issue, if it doesn't change then its time to send it back to Hyper-Pro.
HEY FIREFAG!
1st off---another useless thread!!!

The damper is cooked. Sent it back to annitori distributing today. There gonna test it and either fix the problem or send me a new one I hope.![]()
These son's of bitches!! They'Re trying to tell me they can't do to anything to help me out because the damper was damaged. This is complete BullShit. There were a couple of scrapes on the paint from the bracket. Anyone know of a higher up I can talk to about getting this thing replaced free of charge?? I've only had the stinker for 5 months..![]()

I run the RSC damper on my bike at its lowest setting for most riding. For choppy stuff, +2 clicks. No issues with it so far, and it was unobtrusive this past Saturday.

HEy man, does your damper tighten up a shitload after setting it 2 or 3 clicks? I have the same one you do , color and all. The difference is, The mounting bracket mine uses it different from the one I've seen. Everytime I've seen one it has had the same mount set up as yours with the stem bolt. Mine mounts in place of the two gas tank screws just behind the triples and the piston connects to a bracket attached to my fork. Have you seen this set up before?? Thanks
I've only run the damper @ +3 clicks on the gnarliest of VT pock-marked pavement. I know that just one click makes a dramatic difference in "feel."
Cold temps will certainly effect the dynamics of the damping oil, and shrink the seals some, just like it does to the other dampers (forks & shock) on a bike. I don't ride the sportbike in frigid temps though, so I can't really relate that much.
I've seen the damper mounting setup you describe, but with other dampers. Regardless, the stroke of the piston in relation to the bars is not linear. And you shouldn't want to have the damper "on" so much that you can feel it just by moving the bike around at a stand still. While riding, I can percieve just one click from full "off," yet the damper's action is almost unnoticeable while maneuvering the bike.

Thanks for the insight bro. I'm hoping that Hyper-pro will stand by their product and not screw me. I'm still waiting for a call back from either the dealership that installed it or annitori distributing. They are in debate about what to do with my situation. Supposedly, Annitori Distributing emailed photos of the "damage"(COmplete B.S. Only cosmetic scrapes from mounting bracket) To the dealership because Annitori is claiming that the installation of the damper is the reason it failed. This is shady...why would it work fine for 5 months without inncident and then suddenly fail...PLUs, according to the Hyper-pro website, the twin tube design of the damper is suppose to prevent any interference that the bracket might cause to the piston inside the damper.. I hope this story has a happy ending..![]()

After a little bit of communicating back and forth, Annitori Distributing helped me out. They new about the bone heads at the dealership I was gonna have to deal with so, They hooked me up with a goodWill warrenty and They are sending a new one in the mail>> YEAHH. I love the damper, Hope this one holds up , Knock on Wood.![]()

Either way, Im just glad they helped me out. The big debate i think was over who was gonna take the hit for the replacement, Annitori or the dealership that installed it. In the end, Annitori saved me the hassle of dealing with the dick-bag service manager at the honda dealer that installed the damper. Instead of having me go through the BS with the dealership, Annitori said, " you've been really cool about this and I understand what its like to deal with a bunch of bone heads so I tell you what, I'm gonna get the company to issue a goodwill warrunty and send you a new damper immediatly". FLIPPIN SWeeeeet!!!!![]()
