The photos here are from a perfectly functioning regular shift pattern Dynojet quick shifter set-up on a 2003 Zx-6R ("Current Bike"). Regular shift means that this has an inline "Push" sensor. The problem is that I now very much prefer the GP/Reverse shifting pattern. Although I've never used a quick shifter, I am interested in giving it a go. So I am investigating my options to convert the Current Bike to GP shift and retain a quick shifter.
I used to have this same bike model year that was equipped with GP shift (without a quick shifter) ("Previous Bike"). Previous Bike had Woodcraft rear sets, but I think it was more or less just a matter of removing the sprocket cover and flipping the front linkage (the bike was already set up when I got it). The Current Bike has some other after market billet rearset that came with the bike.
When you look at Current Bike's set-up, what do you see that needs to be done to convert to GP shift and retain Quickshifter? Feel free to alter my list:
1. Remove sprocket cover and flip front linkage. Assume no clearance issues with frame, etc.
2. Obtain a $200 "Pull" sensor from Dynojet, etc?
3. (Or, was there likely something about the Woodcraft rear sets that made whole GP shift on the Previous Bike possible?)

Have someone machine a new gear lever with the attachment point for the linkage on top instead of on bottom? Essentially the solution Woodcraft is releasing for the SV650.
What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
If you want to keep the cover just notch it out with a dremel, that's what I did with my 636. It's set up gp shift with gilles rearsets if that helps.

Dustin you're correct in everything. flip the shift knuckle over and get a push sensor and you're done. should be good unless it moves the shift rod up enough to where the sensor would be rubbing the frame.

When you flip the linkage the shift rod will be next to the frame, there is only a 1/4" of room. Not sure if that helps but since I have the same bike thought I'd let you know.

I think I'll take this in stages:
First, flip the front linkage and see how it looks. As G21forme suggests, I may have minimal clearance to the frame, perhaps too little for the Quickshifter sensor.
Second, if can make it work with the current rearsets and Quickshifter sensor, I'll think about investing in a pull sensor.
Third, if I can't make it work with the current rearsets, I'll consider whether to forgo the Quickshifter or invest in Woodcraft and pull sensor.

Was off track last year and so lacked the impetus to fix this, but investigated yesterday and have a plan. Anyone have a Dynojet PCIII QuickShifter **Pull** sensor sitting in a box they want to unload?
