My fork seals are leaking (2001 Yamy YZF600R) My first bike, still newb, still learning. I was going to take it into MOM's to get the work done. Anyone had good/bad experiences with their service dept.? I had a not so good experience with the sales dept, so I'm unsure. Did a quick search, but found nothing.
TIA
www.computrackboston.com is another option. Peter Kates is a member here (gmdcomputrack). He'll probably cut you a NESR discount. Shoot him a PM or give him a call (number's on the webiste)

I can't speak about their service ... but they will never see my shadow darken their door again. NEVER!
Wow. And that's why I ask. I had a bad experience with the sales rep., but does that mean the service dept. is a bunch of thieves as well?
Oreo, that looks like a great place, but a bit out of my way. I like to find something more local to make drop off/ pick up doable during the work week. Time off for me right now is impossible.
You can find him up at the Track for races and trackdays, maybe you could give them to him then.. He specailizes in Suspension, Why bring them to some monkey, I would work on my own forks before I would consider bringing them to a dealer..
+1.... I'll never bring my bike to a dealer. I do it myself or bring it to a specialist. Might be a little outta my way, but it's so much more worth it... and 1/2 the time they're cheaper than the dealer, too.

yea, i mean if its only the seals it isn't a huge deal to fix i dont think....but def talk w/ PK at GMD....great guy, great work....worth the effort to have him do the work.
+1 for GMD. Both Mike and Peter run tight shops, and know their business. Going to a dealer is like gambling.
They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell

Whatever you do, make sure the cause of the leaking is addressed as well. Often there's a tiny imperfection in the tubes that cuts the seals. A nylon rubbed on the polished surface will likely catch on the imperfection and can help find it.
Stay away from MOM's whatever you do!
okokokokok, no MOM's for me. In a fit of no time/ want to just get it done, I took it to RJ's down in Nashua. They seem to have a better rep than MOM's. I know it's still gonna cost me, but I just want this done so I can get back out and ride.
i have to say i have brought bikes to MOMs twice for service and they were great! just my experience
one was a blown engine (low end crank shaft or something) and the other was a slide on the left side thru an intersection -thought it was totalled - he worked with me and the insurance to fix it
i believe the guys name is Chris
good luck
