Looking at ideas to my RS up on a table to work on in the apartment and looking at ideas for using a work bench or a HD table from U-Line.
Has anyone done such a thing? I don’t want a full blown bike table as I already have one at my shop for the big bikes.
The RS’s weigh under 200# so anything that could survive a football game in Buffalo would work I think.
Anyone who loves the smell of pre-mix do something like this? It’s really only going to be an RS stand or end up a work bench when I move for motors and such.

if you're good with wood this looks like what you want

Here’s a bike worktable made from two sheets of plywood

also HF has the aluminum motorcycle jack

I would love one but they are $1k for the table (700 price +300 shipping). If someone had a lead for a local sale on one I’d bite. For $1000 I’d teach myself how to weld aluminum and get stock from MMC

For a 200 lb bike I would just get 2 or 3 milk crates, a 2x12x96 board, and a chock.
Bolt the chock to the board at one end. Rest that end on a milk crate. Push or ride bike up board and into chock. Lift other end of board like a wheelbarrow and kick the second milk crate under. Put the third milk crate under the rear of the bike so the board doesn't sag.
What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
I'm gonna try & build one of these this year... But I'm trying to think of a minor tweak that would lower the platform by just a few inches as well as widen the platform by the same amount.
Go to 1:06 in that video...
I THINK if I rip both 4x8 sheets an inch or three off of center I can use the long & narrow halves for the lengthwise vertical supports which would shorten it by whatever offset I decide. And it would widen the platform by the same amount...
I think that would mean the slats would be too tall and I'd have to trim them down to match the long side pieces, but I think that's doable without issues.
... Of course, then I'd love for it to be on casters, but I'm not sure this design lends itself well to that....

You'll wind up with a 1/2 X" overhang past the slats on each side but with thick enough material shouldn't cause an issue.
Adding 2"X4" supports or anything like that would make it more bulky to store. The material alone would store in a 3X the thickness spot along the wall behind a bench/refrigerator etc.

Bam, nailed it.
Thanks, Joel!
Now to figure out how to incorporate casters while retaining stability.......... though I think this design might be a little too rickety for that.

Yeah, not a design to put casters on.
This one might be better for that but won't collapse down to nothing like the original

The Algorithm is watching us............ That's the exactly what I was watching earlier.
Ideally I'd have something that's 1: affordable & DIY-able, 2: on casters, 3: height adjustable and 4: collapsible.
But I think it's gonna be a matter of picking just two or three, not all four.

Make a 3/4 plywood table with 2x4s and put two of these underneath:

I was gonna build one of those plywood tables a couple years ago, but didn’t want to pay peak covid plywood prices. Built this with scrap wood I had laying around: an old half(ish) sheet of 3/4” plywood, some 2x6’s, and a 4x4. I spent $25-30 on some decent casters to be able to move it around the garage while a bike is on it.
The top is 28x92, and it’s about 18” tall. I planned it out so that it’s wide enough to put the bike on the kickstand then centered while up on stands, and long enough so that the PitBulls are solidly at the ends without any overhang
I was trying to decide between having legs and casters, or being able to more easily store it without legs. The option without legs was going to be this:
