I recently picked up an 02 HD 1200 Custom. The bike has the Harley Stage 1 mods done, which I believe to be a high flow air filter, carb jetting, and vance and hines pipes. The bike runs great and is actually a lot faster than I anticipated. Problem is the exhaust is way, way to fucking loud. I've already got stock pipes tracked down on Craigslist. Question is, how badly will this affect the performance of the bike? I'm assuming the stock pipes will restrict some airflow which would make it run richer?
Why don't you want to save lives??
it shouldn't affect the performance that much. One thing that the stock pipes add is a cross over tube to even the flow between the cylinders. I would put the stock pipes on and not worry. It might make it run more rich but should be bad.
As an HD rider I have no idea why people put shitty loud pipes on.
Yeah it's not really my thing either. I did some reading on HD forums tonight and I think the best thing to do is just leave what I have and read the plugs periodically to make sure it isn't on the overly lean or rich side.
