Need fork removal tools in Fitchburg

Anyone got the center post torx bits for the ignition and/or spanners for the stem bolts that would be willing to allow me to use them for a few minutes?

I'll try HD tomorrow. Hopefully they have spanners there too. Seems like a fairly primitive tool these days.

Believe it or not, try Wal-Mart, look at the Stanley Torx set - I am pretty sure they are centerdrilled up to a certain size. I remember thinking it was odd that the packaging said nothing about this but they were def. sec. torx.

Spanner? take a measurement and check the plumbing aisle

Ok in all seriousness, you dont need the torx bits to get the forks off or even the triples off, just unplug the ignition switch. if you are looking to remove the IS then you could use a drill bit if you cant find the torx bits.
as for the spanner, those usually arent on there very tight so a flat head screwdriver or drift and a mallet should be all you need.

Spanners. Take some flat steel. Drill holes in both ends approx 1/4 inch opening. On one end put a bolt and nut that they pivot on and on the other end two bolts and two jam nuts with some thread protruding. Free with stuff you find lying around.

Channel locks worked just fine on the stem nuts, duh!!!!

I just had to buy a T40 Security 3/8" socket yesterday too!

I've heard that you can knock out the center post in the screw heads and just use a regular torx bit. Never tried it myself but it could work in a pinch.

I got my set at Sears too. It's easier to use than my other set that has the reg. torx bits so I just keep the new one in the tool box
