So after paying out of my *&^ about 2 months ago-ish for a full carb clean, tune-up, new tires, the works I get on my bike tonight and she will just not stay running. I warmed it up to about 150 before taking her out but as soon as I came to the first stop sign and the RPMs dropped all the way down STALL. Fire it up again and continue till the next stop sign and same gig STALL.
I've had the bike back for around 7 or 8 weeks (I think) and only put on about 100 miles and none of those during the past 2.5 weeks because of work/rain gods. What the F is going on?!?!
I had a similar problem with my truck one time and it was simply a loose battery connection but I'm doubting I'll be that lucky again. Thoughts and help?

Moisture in your gas?
Drain your tank and float bowl and start with new fresh gas.
See if that helps.

You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
Damn, I hate hearing this stuff. When I bought my consignment Bandit 1200, I had the dealer do a 7500 mile and sync the carbs..Mine starts great, but most of the startup troubles I read are Gxxrs.
Hmmmm..
Hope it works out for ya. I left mine back at the house for 10 days. Filled it with Shell high test with Techron concentrate for 5 gallons. Hopefully that'll keep the gasoline, you know, GASOLINE, instead of jelly...
Add some carb cleaner ( Sea foam etc. ) and run the tank out or just drain it. Fill up and add some more carb cleaner. Take a long spirited ride. If it will stay idleing, adjust to the proper idle r.p.m. and make sure it's running smooth. If not, you'll need to pull the carbs and clean. You may want to check to make sure your not getting crap from the tank fouling your carbs. After it has sat for a while, drain some of the fuel into a clear glass container and check for crap.
Don't bother with high octane fuels. The Bandit is designed to run on 87-89 octane. Without engine mods and advancing the timing, it will actually loose performance running high octane fuels.

10-4. Gotcha. But I'm back on the North Shore this week, the bike is down there in the garage sitting. The Tier1 Shell 92 is advertised no ethanol in Northern Va., sticker-verified by the State, and since I hate ethanol to begin with, for storage purposes, that's what I loaded it with. When I'm out riding every day, I use the 89, which they claim as 5%. For now, anyway. The 87 Octane down there is E-10. The book says to burn 87. But, the bike is air-cooled, and temps in the 90's compel me to use the 89. Pointless? Perhaps..
Thanks for the replies guys. I am going to try to get some seafoam in the sucker and run it out to see if I can clear it. Just such a p.i.t.a. since I just dropped so much change into her so recently for a full carb cleaning. Blah, oh well. I will report back with updates.
I take it your gsxr is a 600? The 600's of that year were carbed right? My 2000 750 is fuel injected, i used to let mine warm up until right around 150 as well until i fouled a plug (not sure how you do that with FI) but now i let it get to around 100 or so and take off.
05 Gsxr 1k Black/Silver, Yosh pipe, 8k HIDs, a very big grin
the 600's didn't go FI until 2001.
Correct 2000 GSXR600 = Carbs while 2000 GSXR750 = FI
So on Sunday I raised the idle a bit and that worked just fine to keep the bike from stalling but how much of a "bandaid" is this? Should I just go through a couple of tanks of gas and crank through the gears before trying to lower the idle and see if that helps to fix or should I still do more than that? I can attempt the seafoam maybe over this weekend but what are the thoughts out there?
Back in June when it rained for the whole entire month I didn't use my bike for a good month (rain, work schedule, etc). When the rain subsided and I finally decided to start the bike up after a month I noticed it was running a little rough and the idle was way low. I adjusted it so it was around 1200 RPMs. Thought that it was kind of weird considering last time I used it, it was perfectly fine. So I filled the tank up with fresh gas and forgot about it and rode. After a good couple hundred miles of riding I noticed my idle was really high. So I adjusted it back down to 1200 and it's been fine ever since then. Only thing I could think of is that it sat for a month with untreated gas in the bike and got a little gunked up? After I rode those couple hundred miles back in the beginning of July it's been fine ever since.

Well she is now a bitch to start but with some finesse and time to warm up I can ride her. I raised the idle a bit and put some sea foam into the tank but there are some things that are obviously not right. So I now have the idle higher so that I don't stall but I started to get the "pop" backfire during some shifts. Also it takes a while to get her going to even be agreeable with me.
Should I keep riding it as much as possible (which is truthfully not very much thanks to a nightmare schedule) and hope she smoothes out? Am I risking worse if I do this?
Check and make sure none of the fuel lines are pinched or twisted under the tank. Otherwise take it back to the guy that did the work tell him its fuxxored and to fix it.

I see the sea foam bullshit has infiltrated another website.

Syncing ? the carbs
If one is almost closed or dead at idle those are symptoms
or if one is so open it is idling the bike and others aren't doing it
popping usually lean in cylinder
