ok so i was riding today and the valve cover gasket blew out. it blew out at the end where it is shaped like a half moon does any one know why this would happen? i have a 95 zx7r.
what???? im not larry....
Just a Lebowski reference...
It could be a whole bunch of things... Some minor, some huge pains in the ass... it's hard to say.
Are you comortable working on it?
You could pull the cover to look for obvious signs of heat/pressure... you could run some compression tests, etc.
It could be as simple as a new gasket. It could be much more involved. Do you have a good assortment of hand tools? The shop manual? Both are really good to have. It's not rocket science... you can definitely figure it out... just takes the rght tools and some patience.
yeah hopeully im gonna take the top off toorrow if i can get the time
just went out there to empty the oil catch i have under the bike and looked at the oil level it seems its still full could there being to much oil in there cause it to happen?
Its not venting
look for kinked vent hoses leading up into the air box
there is also a PCV valve somewhere that could be clogged shut
access spray clean
Also examine the 1/2 moon and it should have little edges like a curb to prevent blow out
When I install them I solvent clean area and then a tiny coating of
black silicone
