Would anyone be willing to help me change the chain/sprockets on my versys in the coming weeks/month? Or perhaps just let me borrow a chain breaker? I have no Idea what I'm doing and can pay in money/beer/sexual favors to your lady friend. Thanks!
on the subject of me having no idea what I'm doing, anyone have reccomendations for a chain?

Best- DID
second best - EK
third best - RK
(my opinion)
dont borrow a chain tool and use it unsupervised. Chances are you will break it.
adrenaline Cycle are in swansea, MA just a hop and skip from you and they will sell you and install a chain in no time at all.
PM "the stuff 187" here. Thats justin. He owns the place.
Youtube has a few good videos on this.
I like EK and DID. I HATE Regina.

am in the same boat, I don't want to buy a rivet tool for the chain and nobody I can find local to rivet it,, Got a nice DID chain for the beastie.
Clip style master = junk

If all else fails he could use a clip link temporarily and ride to someone with a chain tool?
Supposedly there is a guy in Winchendon that works on bikes but have yet to locate him. I don't trust those clip type links, want it riveted. I just changed the front sprocket and didnt remove the chain so bike is rideable but since I have another this one hasn't been ridden since the change of sprocket, the rear one I left on as I changed it for a lower tooth count not long ago. If I have to I suppose I could take it to the stealership but would rather not.
Well it went to the stealership last week, and $44 later its all set,,,,
For what it's worth, I'll use a link type for my dirt bike - but never for my street/track bikes.
I've had 2 chains come off in front of me on the track and it's not good. It's cool to watch though...looks like a wicked fast snake!
I've had everything master linked as long as I've been riding. I've seen all kinds of failures, sometimes at the master, sometimes elsewhere on the chain. Luckily I've not experienced what tony has yet.

I've done a couple of these in the last couple years and can help if you need. I don't think I'm too far for you (about 45mins). If you have the rivet tool I can do it for you. no breaker needed unless you really want to keep the old one chain. I just cut those fuckers off with a dremel, takes about 2 mins
I tried using a chain breaker and broke it the first time. I've found that a rotary grinding wheel works 100x better.

$44 is a deal
the motion pro chain breaker, press, and rivet tool is about $65
and FWIW, RK chains have a variety of builds - I would rate them as #3 on degsy's list, but not all of them!
It was a simple job, but I didn't have the rivet tool and for the amount of times I would need it , couldn't justify the expense.
I doubt I will own the bike when it needs another chain.
