Hi all. I have a friend doing work on my bike and I was wondering if you could help me figure out on how much I should give him. I bought a bike 3 months ago and it needed ALOT more work than any of us imagined. Well, my friend did what he could then passed the bike onto his mechanic friend who's been finishing it up for him. The mechanic told me that my friend has been throwing cash his way so whatever I owe would go to my friend. As far as I know this is the work that has been performed and the parts that have been put in. I am not being charged labor.
-Lowering bones installed and bike lowered.
-Framesliders bought, holes drilled and sliders installed.
-Clutch Lever bought and installed
-Clutch cable bought and installed
-Bar ends bought and installed
-Rear brakes bought and installed
-Fuel filter bought and installed
-Carbs cleaned and synched
-Carb slider replaced (one inside was somehow broken)
-New jets installed (old ones were no good)
-New clutch peg installed
-All fluids flushed and replaced
-Brakes flushed (did something with the lines or something like that)
-New spark plugs
-One headlight bulb replaced
There's probably more, but this is what I can think of ATM. Mechanic told me everything has been pretty much replaced and the bike is practically brand new now. He figures there's about 1K worth of new parts in bike. He didn't pay that, nor did he charge my friend that. When I asked my friend how much do I owe him he told me not to worry about it. I would like to give him something for everything he's done. What do you think is appropriate, considering all that's been done?
These are all stock/original parts installed new on the bike?

Yes, I believe these are just new stock parts.
The bike is the same one as my avatar 99 R6. We believe the bike was stolen then had a slow speed crash. It has a new ignition and left side has slight road rash and hardware was either bent or broken. It had only 6k miles on it. I bought it from a dealer in upper NY and day I went to pick up the the front window where the bike was in front of was smashed where thieves the night before tried to break in to steal bike. When I went to buy/look at bike I was told everything was fine and it ran. It did run and the damage outside looked minimal. I had it delivered to my friends house to just have a tune up and such. It wasn't till he took off the plastics the extent of the neglect/abuse was obvious. It appears the bike sat outside for undetermined amount of time (and on its side from crash) cuz gas was gunked up everywhere and there were leaves and needles also everywhere. Someone tried to fiddle around in engine and did a poor job of it. Unfortunately I was not told of the issues till it was too late to returnSo now I was stuck with fixing it up instead. Luckily I have a very generous friend
