At the beginning of spring I re-geared my bike and went -1 and +2. Well I’m starting to regret the move and am considering just picking up a stock tooth front sprocket to put back on. What I was curious about is how much slack I would need in the current chain to put that on without having to add a couple links? Is that something that can be done? Am I SOL unless I buy a new chain?
You've probably got more than enough adjustment left to go up a tooth on the front. The adjusters / axle aren't all the way forward are they?
1 tooth in front is easy.
I'm not even sure exactly how far forward the axle is. I'll take a look, but it sounds like you don't need to much room to get the front sprocket in there?
