I was premature. Lol. I guess it was a fuel pump issue. I want details. Im bound to see something similar at some stage.

Indeed. Fuel pump is a 3 piece assembly. sending unit that clicks on the side, and a 2 piece main body that clicks together. The fuel tube runs though both pieces and is sealed by an oring where they mate. Of the four clips that hold it together, only one was hanging on. the top piece of the pump was canted at a 25 degree angle and the fuel tube oring was just about out of the female side. No fuel pressure could be generated there. Of course, I didn't figure this out until I bought a spare pump and was swapping them. Now I have a spare pump/tank.
Spare tank is the first step towards a new paint job.
