I know this may sound really simple to most of you who have done it but I need a quick tip. I got my forks back from the shop, I put them on the bike, and when I went to put the wheel on the axle it seemed to short. I don't know if the forks are fucked up or it's just me. From what I understand I have to bottom out the threads on the axle. When I do that the axle nut sinks into the forks and the wheel isn't centered. If I don't bottom out the axle screw I don't think the wheel will be secure.
Here's some pictures of what I'm talking about.

Probably like a dirtbike, Tighten the axle nut, leave the pinch bolts loose, take it off the stand and grab the front brake and push the bike forward a few times and the axle should fall into the correct spot in the forks. Tim

I think you have the axl in the wrong side. The nut should be on the right I believe.

HA!! Dan put the front wheel on his GSXR and said "they fucking mounted my tire backwards!" i told him to have them flip it so he did. when i was installing the wheel, i said "you dope, the tire wasnt mounted backwards, you mounted the wheel backwards!" since now the wheel was backwards but the tire rotation was correct. apparently that vintage GSXR wheel can go in either way

That happened to me in Daytona with my F4i. My tech yelled to me "dammit, this wheel won't go in right!". It turns out he was looking at the tire for wheel direction and the tire had been mounted backwards.Originally Posted by SVRACER01
