Fuel Injection Cleaner work in Carbureted bike?

Just wondering if fuel injection cleaner is going to work in my older carbureted bike? I was hoping this would prolong the need to clean the carbs out. Also, for a track specific bike, roughly how many track days could a carb go through before needing a rebuild?

From my recent knowledge I gained working on my carbs this is what I have for you.

Unless it says Carbs on the bottle probably not as effective. Also unless you plan on running the cleaner at the track its only going to piss out of your idle/needle circuits.

If you dial in your carbs and are happy with them and are beating the piss out of them at the track. They probably won't need much of a cleaning because nothing would be building up? I just opened my 14 year old carbs and everything looked original. Still running like a champ once I dialed it in with some shimming.

I can't think of anything you would have to rebuild. Maybe a sync or valve adjustment due to track conditions?

Not necessarily. Most injector cleaners are made up of combinations of hydrocarbons, including alcohol, benzene, xylene, kerosene, toluene, NAPTHA, etc. They vary by brand.

seafoam is pretty fucking awesome.... also heard good things about 'start your engines' but that was mostly for lawnmowers.

Are you asking this question because you have a large supply of FI cleaner on hand? Otherwise, they make generic 'fuel system' or 'carb cleaner' type additives. You can find them near the FI cleaner in autoparts stores. They can be used in carb'ed systems, and as others have said, at the end of the day, it's all probably similar. But if you are buying one, I'd buy something that fits a bit better. Hard to point to concrete positive or negative evidence, but the general market for these products is generally viewed as 'snake oil'-esque.

That said, I've got a gallon of Lucas Oil fuel system cleaner and add a cup to like every third tank full. I haven't really found any noticeable difference, and I'm on an olllld bike. Except one time I poured some in to a full tank AFTER getting home and let it sit. Pretty sure it all sank to the bottom of the tank, not mixing in, so the next day starting it was a bitch!

That naptha stuff comes in atleast 3 big names , I m no chemist but I've read good things about it and it has save my but a couple times in my truck. Lucas is a big and tusted name in additives, a little more pricey compared to others on the shelf.
