I have a 2001 R6 with 13,000 miles on it. Lately when the bike is cold, its been difficult to start. It turns over and cranks, but it takes a bit to get it to start. It has always started, but I am concerned because it is struggling. Once I have warmed up the bike, I can turn it off and start it up again no problem. I'm not sure how old the battery is (its the battery that came in the bike when I bought it 2 years ago). I was thinking maybe it could be the battery? Or maybe something with the choke, maybe the choke isn't closing enough when I put the choke on? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
I'd look at the choke... the battery is fine if it's turning the motor over. If the choke has a cable from the bars to the carbs, the cable may need some attention/adjustment so that the choke works properly.
