you say the head was loose the entire time?
and it made poor compression?

haha, no - once i got spark I noticed the head was loose... and torqued it to spec. compression after that was 45psi.

out of curiosity - what kind of difference would the oil trick gain? I'm gussing not over 100 still

here's the thing, if the head was loose and the engine ran that way for any amount of time, the head seal (gasket/head/cylinder deck surface) was almost certainly damaged by high temperature gas erosion, so just re torquing it won't fix it.

i have seen the oil trick bump 20-30 psi compression pressures to 80 or 90 psi
