ok i went to do the tre mod but there was a switched one there already.but when i was reading about doing this it said when at idle, when you pull the clutch in that the rpms should go up about 700-1000 rpm. tried testing and the rpms didnt go up so im not sure if the tre mod is done right or not any other way to test?
Truth -
PM TLRMAN (Mark) -
he hooked me up with mine - he might be able to walk
you through it.
and yes, when you clutch it the RPM's should increase
i gotta get mine done, which one u get bill

from him or from you?

i installed one of the regualr ones not the switch ones on my old 02 750 ...bike would idle real high but my buddy who had same one was fine i never noticed a difference so i pulled mine out and idle was fine like it was before ...i still have it if someone wants it still in the package it came with
quick question about the tre mod. sorry to jack your thread by the way.
if anyone, hypothetically, has disconnected their speedometer so it registers at 0 mph all the time, in 6th gear, the limiter should, hypothetically, be disengaged right? No need for a tre?
Just some dumbass
Bike in neutral, rev it to 3000 RPM first then pull the clutch. if the tach doesn't move, the TRE is off. if the tach moves 500-1000 RPM the TRE is on.
it tells the ECU you're in 5th gear all the time...this allows the ECU to use a jacked up ignition map. Suzuki retards the ignition in the lower gears, and because it's 5th, the 186mph speedo limit is dissabled.
I was in a higher gear once a few months ago and whacked the thing open, it went pretty good and then all of a sudden it started pulling like crazy. Off the throttle and hammer the brakes crazy. So yea, TRE is on the list. JSD products now has one that allows the gear indicator to still work, if you have a gear indicator.
Turning a switchable TRE off helps the bike start better when cold. My 01 750 started fine cold with the TRE on tho.
i assume you're doing this on your older gsxr which wont have a factory gear indicator.
this is what i used for mine GIpro - Gear Indicator with Advanced TRE for Suzuki and Kawasaki motorcycles
made by the manufacter of the speedohealer.
it's a gear indicator with TRE built in. works great for me (so far)
me? or the original poster? My 01 750 is long gone.
I've not bought a TRE for the K7...and it seems as if the JSD site is down
yeah jim its on the srad but as i said theres already opne there i may just take that one out and wire in the one i have to see if theres any diff. but after this winter there will be a BIG change in the srad that i have![]()
well well just say that those plastics are out and there will be alot more peppin in the srads steppin come next riding season.
yeah bill i think i did tell you. if i did thats the direction im going in with the srad over the winter
If the first TRE is functioning, then putting in another won't make a difference.
Also is the TRE in there already plug and play? does it plug into the stock harness? if it does, it's most likely in right. Do like I said above, neutral, rev to 3000rpm and pull the clutch in. if the revs don't move, switch the TRE and try again. revs move it's on
yeah i went and tried the rev test and it didnt move and no the one in there is not plug and play i was thinking maybe the one in there is faulty and was going to unwire that one and put the one i made in
ahh it very well could be in wrong then. not sure but on the newer gixxers there are 2 harnesses under the tank with 3 wires, identical harnesses. it could be plugged into the wrong one. I think one is the gear position sensor and the other is the speedo sensor. it needs to be in the GPS, maybe the previous owner goofed that up, or maybe the switch is shot, etc.
good luck...and if you have someone local with some TRE knowledge ask for a hand if you think you need it.
I thought of making my own but figured I'd end up frying the electrical system on the bike![]()
