Sounds like your regulator/rectifier (most likely) or possibly the stator went.
Regulator/Rectifier.

Stator.

Both are pretty normal in the motorcycle world. There are ways to test them using a multimeter, a service manual can walk you through the whole thing. If you were closer I'd have a look for you but, uh, yeah.
Thanks a lot it looks like the regulator won't. Be that hard to put in and it's cheap I'f it Ends up being the stator how hard is that to install
Pretty simple as well, drain the oil. Pull the cover (about 8 bolts), 3-5 bolts hold the stator into the cover and then trace the wires to the plug. When pulling the cover you may trash the gasket. So to be safe I'd grab one before you do the job.
you can also use the gasket maker crap that comes in a tube, i did that when i replaced my oil pan. its the black, oil resistant kind. worked great for me. but yes regulator/rectifier seems the culprit. you can also check this sort of by checking the charge in your battery. either take the battery to an advanced auto store or if you have a multimeter you can check, if battery reads dead or a bit lower then 12 then its a charging issue
