    ZZR600 SS Lines

I want to put a set of stainless brake lines (front and rear) on my 2008 ZZR600. I'm looking for advice on what to get. Things like good brands, bad brands, where to buy, where not to buy..... etc.
    Thanks!

    Re: ZZR600 SS Lines

I just got some Galfer superbike lines (like em a lot) from Ted at Duncanmoto. He can help you out.

I wouldnt bother getting them for the rear unless you just want the bling factor, cuz that's about all they're good for.

Why do you say not to get them for the rear?

I agree with Pete. I got the Galfers for the ZX6R and after riding yours I reccomend them.

I would say you don't need the rear because it doesn't have enough pressure to need it, plus you don't use it in the same way as you would the front.

Do you have inadequate stopping power with your rear brake? Is it squishy? Do you want more stopping power? Can you even notice if it is squishy (aka the lines flexing a bit)?

    Re: ZZR600 SS Lines

There's no need for a stiffer brake pedal. Braided lines are designed to stiffen up the feel and slightly increase braking power by reducing line expansion under pressure.

The rear brake locks up so easily that some people actually introduce a small amount of air into the line to soften up the pedal and reduce it's response, thus reducing the chances of a rear wheel lock-up.

One advantage to SS lines is that they don't give like rubber lines do. This increases line pressure and results in having to apply less pressure to brake.

Putting SS lines in the back can make you lock the rear easier.

(I have them on 2 of 3 bikes and simply put an air bubble in it to make the pedal a little squishier. I almost never use my rear brake anyway.)

    Damnit Pete, you're too quick.

BTW, there are quite a few good brands, which are equally good:

Galfer, Speigler, Goodridge, and Vesrah all come to mind.

That makes sense. My rear brake is fine, I was thinking more about the front and just wanted to be sure I had all my information straght before I ordered anything.
Anyone else with SS line experience?

    and HEL.

Any one of those brands would have good SS lines for a street bike.

I think I got Galfer lines for my SV and the banjo bolt rusted like crazy almost immediately. Other than that they were great. I can't remember 100% if they were in fact Galfer lines though.

I may have some that will work on your bike. How long are the lines?

and if anyone needs custom lines (length, banjo angle, superbike fittings) then Hel from moto-heaven.com is awesome. had them make up some lines for my 929 when I put a Brembo RCS on there. They're actually a little longer than I want but that's my fault not theirs otherwise they are awesome.

Another vote for HEL lines. I've installed two sets of them and they are great.

Goodridge doesn't offer a specific kit for your bike.

Let me know your needs. 2 lines are better than 3 IMO.

I got this from Ted, I think I'm gonna go with the Galfer kit.

I put Galfer SS lines on my 01 ZX6R about a month ago and they've been great. Installation was cake, and they really improved the feel under hard braking. I have noticed a bit of rust around the double banjo bolt at the MC though...

Galfer have had rust issues for 3 years now bid stay away from them personally.
