Again, ya'll better be mentioning the site when ya talk to / see him! Can't stress enough how important that is. Really...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Has anyone gotten in touch with him lately? I called him last week and left a message and never heard back...
I'm too busy this weekend and it's going to rain for the 2352352nd weekend in a row anways, but curious if he's been away or something...
Just had Jim mount and balance my new Perelli Diablo Corsas this morning (Sat. May 7). I asked him how many people he gets from the NESR website and he said "Lots". He also said to keep spreading the word that he changes tires and wrenches on bikes. He is a cool guy and does great work for a very reasonable price.
And thank you Kawasaki for not including a 22mm hex bit in your tool kit. It is a little difficult to get the front wheel off without one. I found that a 13/16" spark plug socket is just a hair smaller than 22mm. I took the rubber out of it, put an extention through and made a custom 22mm hex wrench.

Had Jim mount my new Michelin Macadam 90X last night. Great work at a great price, and the guy's a riot.
There was a guy in there before me, getting a tire changed after cording his front. The guy has a bigass BMW 1200LT. The thing's like a cadillac with two wheels. 7 disc changer, hydraulic center stand, enough trunk space to fit all my hockey equipment, etc. Nuts. He commutes from Concord, MA to Lewiston, ME on the bike, YEAR ROUND. Says he's put 46k on his bikes the past three years, he's hoping to hit 50k this year. I asked what he did when it snows, he says he waits for the highways to clear then he just goes. What a nutjob.
A la our very own RandyO! 100K + miles on his '99 SV650!Originally posted by 02 YZF 6

Holy shit! All the way from Rhode Island??? In the long run, wouldn't it've been cheaper to keep it local? I like Jim and all. But that's a helluva long way!![]()

Jay,
They want $60.00 a tire to change them, not counting the gas for me to trailer the bike 52 miles round trip. I get 13 miles to the gallon on that ride to the dealer.
I actually saved money, but not travel time.
My trip to Jim's was around 164 miles round trip & I got 15.2 miles to the gallon at 65 MPH that's $22.65 @2.099 a gallon
Total cost $62.65 vs. $130.00
My time was cheap.
I was against paying the dealer that outrageous amount.

Called Jim on Monday (Mem. day) night, he set me up for this Thurs. night @ 6pm to put my new tires on.
So, tomorrow night, my B12S will have a new pair of Avon brand sneakers on her and be so ready for the touring season ahead. We will see how it goes.
I did mention finding out about him through the NESR forum to him by the way.

Nope, it wasn't me. I'm not sure where your shop is either. I checked my map of New Hampshire and I couldn't find any South Canuckistan on there anywhere.Originally posted by svridah03

Seriously though, this is actually my first trip seeking bike service from someone else. I've taken care of all the mechanical/service maintenance myself up until now (oil changes, valve clearance adjustment, throttle cable, etc.).

Well, I made it down to Jim's house last Thursday evening, my girlfriend followed me down with my truck and the new tires in the bed.
Met up with his neighbor Mike and shot the shit with him for a few and got a bit of Jim's motorcycle repair/racing history from him while waiting for Jim to arrive from his full time gig.
When he did show up, he walked up to us, said his hellos and got down to business. He moved all his bikes out of the garage (two late model Beamers and one late model Suzuki Intruder) to make space for my B12S. He then walked up to my ride, threw her into neutral and started pushing her around the driveway like she weighed about 50 lbs. or something. It scared me at first only because I move her around so cautiously and warily. You could tell he had years of experience doing this...lol. I was scared just the same.
He asked if I was hanging around to watch him work or coming back later. Kelly and I were starving so we drove around the corner to Cactus Jacks on S. Willow for some dinner. We were there for about 50 minutes. Went back to Jim's house almost exactly an hour after leaving and the bike was completely done!
Jim asked $40 in exchange for services and he also gave me a couple of his business cards explaining that he worked on cages too. I explained that I just got "bent over the hood of my truck" the week before due to inspection repairs on the truck, and that I wish I'd known it sooner.
Anyway, great guy, great service and it saved me just around $100.00 since Concord Motorcycle wanted about $60-$65 per wheel if I brought tires purchased elsewhere to them for mounting. (What an ass-raping!!!).
Anyway, just wanted to thank Jay and this site for hooking me up with Jim's service. I owe you one.
regards,
Dom

I don't know which on-line house he got them from though . MEZ6's don't appeal to me ,,, the tread pattern is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well not for me !
oh.... you're including tires in that number? well then sure, he'll save more buying tires online & having Jim mount em will save him a couple hundred. i thought you were just talkin about just mounting & balancing.

A bigto Jim for changing out my tires in some seriously unbearable weather this past Saturday. It's a huge difference going from some crappy squared off Continentals (tires that came on the bike when I bought it) to some nice round Pilot Powers.
Jim's a great guy and he welcomes the business! It really didn't take long at all, as he works pretty damn fast.. plus his buddy was there talking about all kinds of crazy shit while I waited. Anybody know who I'm talking about? He looks like some crazy safari version of Colonel Sanders.![]()
I just glanced through all these posts...a quick questions (sorry if it is answered somwhere in thread)...
Do you have to bring him *just* rims and new tires, or can he pull rims off a bike and then remount the rims once new tires are on them?
and yes, I'll say I'm from NESR...
