I have an '04 yzf 600r with the stock 160 rear tire on it that is getting down to the wear bars and am starting to think about new meat on my rims. I would like wider than my stock 160 on the rear so I was wondering what size I can fit without modification, also i would like to be able to corner a bit faster and harder. Any suggestions on tire brand/model?

You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
Contact Karaya One, and ask him if he has anymore 170-60-17 Michelin Macadam's in stock. If you wanna take a spin on mine Tuesday (or whenever) you're welcome to.
If you're dead-set on a 180 rear, some on the YZF board say it rubs, some say it'll fit. Most agree that the performance difference on our bikes is negligible.
Here's a thread on the topic:

thanks prolux, i might take you up on that, i checked out that other place you told me about and they seem to think 170 is the way to go also, just doing the research now but will most likely need a tire in a month or so with how much riding i have been doing
I would keep the 160 on it.
I do have Pilot Sports on closeout in both 160 and 170.
$105.00
Do you need a front 120/60-17? $95.00
Let me know!

A nice 200 series Pilot Sport. Fits the Busa perfect.
$275.00 for front and rear, or $160.00 for the rear.

What kind of mileage can i expect out of that tire? The stock seems like it will make it to about 8,000.
A Pilot Sport -depends on the bike and rider.
I would say 4-5K.

I also have these on eBay - 4561646600
They will also fit, and are very good tires for less than the Sports.

ok, you want to have a bigger tire for looks i take it, because getting a bigger rear tire definitely isn't going to improve handling.. it will only make turn in harder.
