Question Repainting levers and bar ends.

    Advice on a spray bomb?
Looking for a gloss black finish that will hold up.
Does PJ1 not make a specific paint or will "tough" paint work.
Not too sure which brand to purchase or is this no big deal?

    Thanks

Keep in mind that if you're painting bare aluminum you should use a zinc chromate or "etching" primer.

i'm not an expert, but I believe powdercoating will still rub off, especially on such a high wear item like the levers.

I would say go base/clear coat after a good primer. The clear will prob give you better wear resistence.

You could also get them annodized. its like electroplating aluminum but the finish is super durable. not sure if there is anyone that commercially does it in your area though. I've seen some backyard stuff (all you need is acid and a battery and some dye) but that looks a little dangerous to me.

Zinc Chromate is tough to find at hardware stores. You can get it at boating supply places like West Marine though.

Eastwood.com has some that works great.

    Many thanks.
I had the cover off a few days ago and my eyes went right to the levers and bar ends. Gotta fix those soon.

Powdercoating those parts would be really cheap (under $50 for sure), especially if you sanded/cleaned them before sending them off.

Powdercoating will stand up a lot better than paint will (at least in my experience).

Would it be safe to run them through a bead blaster to remove loose bits etc?
    I don't see why not.
