So my question is this. Who hear would be willing to teach me some things about wrenching on my bike. I wanna start basic so I know how to do whateevr it is I need to do. Obviously if someone has the right tools thats a plus.
ive got about 2k on my bike and I would like to perform the next oil change and stuff. anyone local to Gardner, or fairly close who is willing to take some time and teach me? We could come up with some form of compensation if you like.
I bet Mark, aka TLRMan, would help ya out.

oh damn Jo I didnt even catch that ridiculousness...
Yeah I bet he would he was a really cool guy yesterday... seems everyone wants his time though.. I didnt wanna be another on that guys list! he needs some time to ride.
Yeah, he'd have more time to ride if he shut up for once!
Right Maaahk?
He's a great guy... I gotta get him talkin about bikes & put a video camera on him... but I think I'd run outta tape![]()

we were in different groups but the few chances I got to talk with him and the things I heard him say were helpful. Its no wonder his TLR is in great shape as he has no time to ride what with fixing everyones bike and all.
How bout that other TLR that was there, that thing was pretty sweet..![]()
I would be willing to help. You bring beer and I will help you learn the wrenches on whatever you need. I'm no Maahhhk but I know a thing or two
~ Life passes most people by while they're busy making grand plans for it.~
If you're interested in learning some riding technique too sign up for Tony's two day september trackday. We'll be doing seminars for a few different things on the bikes and I'd be more than happy to personally show you around your bike after that.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
true dat. Show ya how to wrench on it AND how to ride it![]()

I wish I could do a track day, but I dont have the money right now. but im always up for tips and pointers.
to add to this, I want to get all of the proper gear first, need pants, long gloves, and boots. before I can afford a track day.
Keep an eye on the Wera board.. WERA Motorcycle Roadracing - 13x Forums I kow many on here have bought good used stuff here.. Buying shit new is very expensive.. I've spent well over $1500 on new shit.. I could picked up good stuff here for probably less then half..![]()
+1 I bought all my gear new then found out about the wera boards and realized how much I could have saved on some used gear. Also check ebay for some things. I got a pair of sidi vertebra boots used one day for $200.
+1 for getting proper gear rather than rushing into it!
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash

im just more comfortable getting the proper gear. once I get that Ill do a track day with my bike, its not like I need to use all 1000cc's to learn better techniques. I just want to make sure if I mess it up, I can fix it up too. Place ill need some help with race prep, guess that fits in with my origianl thread.
Joe thanks for the Web site. im going to check it out. You have proved yourself quite useful for someone who lives in the dirty burg!
I used to live in Gardna, hey... I live in the Nice part of The burg, It's almost Westminster..
I too could help ya if you get stuck, Been working on American bikes for a few years.(Buells/Harleys) Just starting to play with the others bikes now as they seem to have cought my interest. I am no track guru at all. But am looking to get some time in as soon as funds allow for some good gear. I have some...just need more. I got the sportbike bug.....I love speed in the corners like most do here.
A service manual would be your best friend for learning....
Ride Hard!
Ride Fast!
Dont even get me started on the service manual that I was promiseed 4 times that I never got. I put my slip on pipe on myself but that was fairly easy (even though it turned in to a project)
Sounds lame but I even want help just changing my own oil to start so Im comfortable with it, and making sure I have the right tools to do it.
Joe Gardner sucks, and im just busting on you.
i just learned by doing....reading online....and wingin it. esp when taking things apart, just think about it logically and remember how to put it back together....and dont lose bolts lol.
and using this board as a resource is huge, between asking questions or for actual help....or searching for info.
Well I dont want to pay the dealer, but im giving it one last shot in the manual. I really dont want to pay 80 bucks for something I should have gotten free
Hey im game for anything, except I dont have a lot of tools, well I have lots of sockets and alan wrenches and some openfaced. I just want to learn how to be self relient when it comes to the bike.
Well,
I guess you could pack up your 10w-40, filter, and roll down my way.
Good excuse for a ride to the beautiful North Shore.
We got a couple twisties around here that'll keep you busy too!
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.
Im thinking the back pack is the way to go, im just about to hit 2k on my bike (yeah I know havent been riding it much LONG STORY) but I would say soon would be the way to go, any oil recomendations?
