So I got the bottle of fuel Stabilizer and changed my oil at 10k miles and I thought with the broken foot I'd have the bike stored for the winter already.
Since the weather has been nice and the foot is healed I've been riding and not the oil now has a 1000 miles on it and I will most likely get a few hundred more on there before the snow flies.
I'm assuming that I should change the oil again for the winter time? or should I be all set?
Also I haven't put the Fuel Stabil in it yet, but I was thinking I would end of the week. I assume it's not bad to drive with the Stabil in the tank or does it have an adverse affect if you continually run it thought the system in case I want to continue driving after I add it?
1/2 the people will say change oil, 1/2 will say dont bother.
As for stabil, its fine to run through the system, but if you go through a full thank youll obv need to add more before storing, even if you go through 1/2 a tank, Id add more before storing.
Oil your choice I always used cheap walmart oil for winters and a shot of fogging oil in the crank
Green/blue stable double consentrated in a completely full tank
best to add during fueling so its throughly mixed and the 5 miles riding so its through the system

ok, here's my 2 cents. If the oil is dirty change it otherwise do not. If you absolutely will NOT run the engine then I recommend overfilling the oil to the absolute top - this prevents condensation and protects the parts better. If your going to crank it once in a while DO NOT overfill as youll blow your seals.
Definitely make sure that you have stabil in the system when the bike does get stored, also make sure that the tank is full - if the fuel pump is not fully submerged it can rust.
Finally, bag and tape your exhaust pipes and bag over your air intake. This keeps the condensation out and prevents rust.
I run Stabil year round it won't hurt a thing.
+1...I run Stabil in all my machines all year long..definitely the green-I also run my bikes at least twice a week in the winter.I don't agree with overfilling the crankcase with oil to protect from condensation, but I've got the bikes in the garage all winter.
The more people I meet, the more I like my dogs.....
I have never done nothing. Guess what?
What is fogging oil??
so I should have got the Green Stabil not the red one. it the green that much better?
I also plan on starting the engine every week or 2 during the winter I'm keeping it in a barn so it will be inside but there is no heat.
Is it a good idea to start it or is this not a good idea?
Also plan on covering the ait intakes and the exhaust so the mice wont get in there.
The green Stabil is formulated to deal with Ethanol, red isn't.
I'd put the Stabil to it, run it enough to get it circulated, then put the bike up for the winter. Don't start it, just let it rest. Keep the battery on a tender.
If you fill the case with oil - tie a reminder to the key, throttle, etc as a reminder so you get it back to the right level before trying to turn it over.

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Damn I've been running red stabil for a month now.. guess I'll have to switch to the green stuff. I thought the green stuff said marine stabil?
I assume it's not that bad to be running it now though is it...?
And what does clean oil mean? The oil still looks really clear though the oil fill window compared to the black gunk that was in it before I changed it for the first time..

Yes black oil is bad. Amber or whatever color it was when new is good.

Fogging oil
Is special sticky with "Vapor" protection chemicals. It will way more boost oils corrosion protection than oil oil.
Actual real application for permanenet storage is to spray everywhere including a good 2 oz shot in the crank
Then when engine warmed up its sprayed down the intake thoats until firt its smoking like a fog machine. Then spray enough so that it stalls by being flooded.
Fogging oil at most good auto stores, marine stores and I bought it a Walmart but haven't looked this year.
A 2 oz shot in the crank and tank then run till warm will get you easy over a winter.
Yes it will smoke a little in the spring as thiss burns off

Red Stabil is indeed formulated to handle ethanol fuel. I don't know how many times I've said that. The blue/green stuff (marine) is geared toward boats, lawnmowers, lawn equipment, etc. It's got like, 4 times the cleaning qualities as the red stuff. But you use a lot less of it. I've always used the red stuff, and I'll continue to. And I still haven't had any gas-related issues, other than when I ate at Taco Hell last week. Of course, if it makes you feel better, then by all means use the blue/green stuff. It's a small price to pay for piece of mind...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I shoulda also added that I treat the tank(s) in the spring with Seafoam too. Probably a little overkill, but it certainly doesn't hurt things...

I was on the stabil website the other day and they said the difference between red and blue sta-bil is nothing more then the concentration. The blue is double concentrated. Also in a PDF from their site they have a picture of both bottles (Red and Blue) and they say that both deal wit ethanol. I really dont think there is a difference.

KAWASAKI RULES WOOOOO!
Put your bike in a heated and controled temp environment (in basement/livingroom/bedroom/bed/kitchen/livingroom) and add nothing to the gas, it's worked for me for the past 10 years or so
I put stabil in my lawnmower and it has started every spring with no trouble, put it in my generator and I have to clean the carb every time I want to start it. My theory, generator has a steel gas tank which condensates with temp change, lawn mower has plastic tank which doesn't

Tin foil in the exhaust and air box intake will certainly keep the mice away.
