What are you peeps using these days if not the Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha branded oil? In air cooled bikes, especially?
Pure synthetic especially in air not so cooled mc engines
Look though your not supposed to use the High Efficiency newest oils
I used the Mobil1 MC oil during the season then wintered over with any kind of dyno oil

I used Rotella in my SV and liked it a lot. I may give the Rotella synth a try in the Versys.
As far as air cooled goes, I'd probably use a full synthetic.
Thanks all. I'm not changing yet, but I noticed the sight glass was showing at the half-way point between full and low. I was looking for a topper-offer. Not sure what the dealer used, and I'm not sure if they topped it to the full mark either, I didn't notice. I've put about 650 miles on it this week and noticed it was low. Or at least, not full. It took a half-quart to fill it. I dunno if 650 miles to burn a half quart is a lot, but not sure if they filled it anyway.
Picked up a bottle of 10W40 SF/SG Valvoline Motorcycle oil. It'll have to do. When I get up there, I'll figure out what to use then..
I now use Amsoil full sythetic bike oil. I have used Shell Rotella T in both my ZX-6R and in my ZX-14 it seemed to work well.
Syth is much better. It lasts much longer and it does not really breakdown. The only thing to watch is the oil color. Real dirty oil should be changed.
I know Harley riders that have good luck with Amsoil as well. They have good sythetic for aircooled engines.

I have been using the Rotella T synthetic and I like it, and its cheap, under $20 for a gallon at walmart
I actually cooked a batch of dino oil in my 91 Golf (had oil temp and pressure gauges installed, saw the temp hit a new-to-me high on a gap run, and all of a sudden the oil pressures weren't where they had been at comparable RPM ranges before, even after things cooled off a bit). Switched to Rotella Synth in the Golf, didn't look back, never had cooked-oil problems again.
Bought the Ninjette, found out that other ninja250.org folks were happily using Rotella in theirs, happily used it in mine. I do change oil around 3k, so probably more frequently than necessary, but I've not managed to get motivated to actually have oil samples analyzed to see what kind of mileage I could get.
i use Rotella T Dino in all my vehicles now. its great stuff

Rotella T 15W40 Synth in my Zed. Great stuff and cheap.

Shell Rotella 15w-40 (the regular stuff)
Street bike and race bike both get the Rotella treatment. It's 11 bux a jug and doesn't burn off......unlike "some" OEM oils.
