I found some oil in the airbox of my 2002 SV650 yesterday while changing the filter. Not a lot of oil but enough that it took a few wipes with a shoptowel. What does that mean?

Some oil in the airbox is normal. Bikes don't use a PCV valve, they just have a hose direct from the crankcase to the airbox. As your bike's oil heats up and sloshes around it vaporizes. The mist is carried into the airbox where it condenses and coats the inside of the airbox, sometimes enough to puddle a little. Don't worry about it if you can wipe it up easily with a small rag.
Cool, thanks guys, especially 07BR for the detailed info!![]()

Sometimes can be caused by overfilling the oil too. Or laying the bike down on one side or the other.
..Or so I've read about the DL650. (Which has the same engine, basically.)
