sv650 weird noises

anyone got any ideas what might be wrong with my sv650?
I just changed the oil + filter + took the bike to VIR.
it ran very good for 2 days straight but for my last session of the 2nd day, it got really fast for a few laps + then on the straight away started making all kinds of loud knocks,pings,+ clanking noises, so I shut er down + coasted to a stop off track.
I can start it now, but it sounds like a cement mixer.
anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong with it--I can't afford to take it to the shop for diag!!
will changing the oil again with a heavier grade maybe help?

Check oil level.
Change oil.
Examine filter for "bits".
Fuel quality?

My theory:

"Really fast" means it probably leaned out a bit at WOT due to fuel delivery issues. The pinging, and knocking were due to detonation from too much heat due to leaning out. The clanking and subsequent cement mixer noise is due to internal damage from detonation.

Hope I'm wrong.

They usually have crank probs... something about not enough endfloat and it not being set with shims, but rather just the cases. You're gonna have to tear it down. No amount of oil will repair that kinda damage...

it's very normal for the SV to make noise that may come & go (cam chains get kinda slap happy)

Seems like the tensioners on bikes are a common weak point.

Hmmm... If that were the case would you expect an almost immediate boom as mr valves meet mr piston? Dunno... It definitely could be the case... That would definitely explain the cement mixer sound. Gonna need to tear it down for sure. Should be relatively easy to verify timing with marks on the cam sprockets and the cylinder at TDC.

thank you all for your answers but be assured--ANYTIME--a motor suddenly speeds up + then starts pinging,clanging,knocking,+ rapping, your bearings have spun + are about to seize or break!

Amazing the number of keyboard heros huh???? Try changing the oil, might be a cam chain tensioner.....how about the valve clearance.

I've spun bearings and never had a motor speed up. It just loses power and runs rough in my experience.
