Hi folks. I've got a 09' Ninja 250 that need valve check/adjustment very soon. I want to find a shop or someone reliable to do it. What shop do you guys recommend ? Obviously the cheaper the better.
I know at my mechanical-handy-man level, if I do it myself, it will take 2 weeks.
It really isn't that bad. The hardest parts are (a) getting a good angle with the feeler gauges and (b) making sure that you tighten the locknuts enough but not too much. It is time-consuming—you have to remove the fairing and tank, unbolt the radiator, and probably a few steps that I've forgotten in order to get the valve cover off—but none of it is particularly hard (IMO). If you haven't read the Ninja 250 FAQ at http://faq.ninja250.org/, take a look. The special Kawasaki tool is really nice to have and not particularly expensive.
(I learned how to do valve adjustments on my 250, and it was rather intimidating the first time, but it got much easier...and if you put on any serious miles, it makes life much more economical.)
Oh, and sorry, I have no good recommendations in your area. I just think that doing it yourself is worth consideration.
After you check/adjust yer valves, do a compression test to determine if ya need a valve job or not

08+ ninja 250 are shim under bucket. Ninjette.org had a DIY there.
I had Razees do my 250. 3 needed to be shimmed out of 8 at 7,500 miles.
