I have heard mixed things about using full synthetic right off the line. People seem to tell me that a blend is better for the first 3000ish miles because something on the bike needs more time to break in. Its a 2009 gsxr 750 and the bike is used just for luxury purposes, half stop and go traffic, half highway. Just wondering everyones opinions, before I get the service done friday.
Thanks,
Chrs
Why is this in the Pit Area?![]()
Boston --> San Diego
Many bikes ship with full syn right from the factory now. (Duc's for example.)
Just change it with the normal oil at regular intervals and beat it you will be fine...and do it your self its a 10 min job....and get a new crush ring also. I just did mine today...![]()

Stay with petroleum oil until about 3000 miles or so and then switch over to semi or full synthetic.

It's not full synth that pisses off clutches, it's 'energy conserving' oils with additives that have the potential to cause slipping.
hooray for $19 rotella synth!
Break-in is the last step in the manufacturing process. Use regular oil until 3kmi. First change at 500, second at 1000, third at 3k. After that use whatever you like.
