Friday
Novice MWGP 9th
while not a good launch by even novice standards it felt like my best ever. didn't make much progress forward. only managed a 1:28. sucky but better than the 30s I was doing in practice.
Saturday
Expert LW Superbike (novice GTO). 1st.
Start from pole as I have done every time in this race. make my typical crappy start and go into T1 I think in dead last. pick off most of the guys in the first couple laps. Started to get lonely and I was wondering where BrianC so I started thinking I must be going better than I thought, then he passed me. little bit later Mike Langlitz passes me. I tried following him for a bit and was a few bike lengths behind going into 3 when he locks up the back brake and goes into the tires. couple laps later he blows by me, WTF. he pulled away a bit up the hill cause I suck at T4 badly but wasn't too far behind by the time we got the straight and the checkered. I think it was the lap I was chasing him that I got my new PB of 1:24.692. didn't know he was in GTU so I got the GTO win. go to the trophy ceremony later to get my little piece of paper and see other novices getting actual trophies so I didn't know what was going on till I got mine. turns out they are old expert trophies. I'm assuming its cause those guys have a bajillion of them so they probably told them to give them out to us non-people. Very cool and thanks to Rick Doucette, I ended up getting one of his.Attachment 25292
Sunday
MW Superbike 5th
Pole again as I have won this race both weekends so far but knew I wasn't gonna take it today so I'd just try to get as high as I can and lower my times. ok start. got stuck behind someone and just couldn't find a way through even though I knew I was faster. after a couple laps behind him I get into 1 a little quicker than him and basically it was hit him or go around the outside and hope he doesn't push me into the grass on the inside of 1A, I chose to go around. He came up to me later and said it was a nice pass and very clean. ran away from him after that and finished a lonely race but had some good laps.

Nice report, you had a great weekend. Congrats on a new PB, and a win! It was fun hangin for a bit, I don't think I want fried seafood again for a while, but good times anyway.
Cheers from one Brett to another!![]()

Congratations Brett!! Well done my friend.
Too many Bretts, one of you needs a silly nickname.
You looked good. I had an LOL moment when Mike hit the tires in 3, mostly because my mom yelled "That guy just fell over in the tires!"
From what I saw from T3, you looked good, glad you got some wood this weekend
And yes, more Newicks. Everything is better fried!

I'm happy about it because its been a steady improvement from round 1 but still not all that happy its only a 24. I'm lacking the mid corner speed that I used to be able to carry but now I'm making up for it with much better exit speed. just need to put the 2 together and then I'll be happy.

Great riding this weekend Brett... one thing that makes you stand out from alot of the others (besides your hair), is that you are a very consistent and predictable rider... I don't get nervous when you are near me on the track like some of the other novices. Congrats on the win!

"So this is what your race program has become... the back of a pickup truck huh?" -PK
thanks. Consistent and predictable are things I try to keep in my mind all the time. If lines are varying widely or brake markers change greatly then its just gonna get you into trouble at some point and hopefully that doesn't get you hurt or anyone else. I don't wanna get hurt and I don't wanna hurt anyone else so if we all aim to be consistent while still trying for that improvement it makes for a safe and fun race. I think overall we have a pretty good group of novices who are all making good improvements each time out.
