Round 4.
Rada turns Expert
Woa was it warm out.
Saturday practice: I roll out on the track with a bunch of new parts from fixing the crash at the Classic. I spent the first session just feeling the bike out and loosening up. That went cool. Forks are great hate the brakes.
Race 8 LWGP: Being the newb that I am I grid 5D, back in the cheap seats with 769 Keith Draghi and 889 KB. The flag drops on my first race as an EX and I get a great jump and come out of T1 about mid pack. I finish lap 1 in 11. I run there most of the race until I hit some Am traffic. Lesson number 1= Don’t hesitate to pass. I paid for that little mistake. Chuck Boucher 565 and 266 Hobbs go by on the front straight. Shit. I wondered where my buddy Chuck was. Hmmm. I kept them in sight but could not mount a real challenge. Finished P11. Woohoo that was fun. Best time was 1:20.3. For my nerves I’ll take that.
Pit bike race:
Fun as hell. That is all.
Sunday: We made some rear ride height changes to quicken things up a little. First practice proved that they were a step in the right direction. Rolled around in the 1:20s and felt decent.
Looooooooooooonnnnnnnggggg hotttttt wait until Race 8 again.
LWSS. I get on the grid and things are foofed up. Someone is in my grid spot so I get shuffled to the wall on the outside. Yay. There is a bike 6 feet in front of me. I royally blew this start. Roll into T1 LAST. I settle down and go to work. Pick of one bike per lap until I get to P7. This feels good. I finish here. I’m happy again.
Race 12: F40Lights.
It’s hot and I am fat and out of shape. I go out to pre grid and get a treat. I have two super sexy beasts show up to shade me. Thanks guys. I forget about the heat.
The Flag drops I take off. I spend the entire race in 7th place. I really was not liking the heat. I ran pretty conservative in the 1:22 range and just brought it home in one piece.
All in all another fantastic race weekend with the very best friends in the world. We really do have a good time.
I want to thank my wife Wendy for all the help and support.
Thanks Emily for taking care of packing the trailer and all you do in the pits. Great job Kiddo.
Thanks to the Tony's Track Day staff for all the help. I would not be here without that.
Thanks to all my garage pals from next door that make it so much fun.
Thanks to Dave, Lou, Jay and Marco for the help and being cool ass garage mates.
See you cats in August!!!
