First, a big thanks to Scott Mullin for going through my motor between race weekends. Despite having pulped his foot in May he picked up my motor after the June races and had it done in time for me to re-install before this round. I can't say enough good stuff about the communication, documentation and support that he provided through the process.
I had a good weekend. Friday practice was frustrating with the on-again off-again rain but I hope to have that solved by the next race weekend. Kurtz delivered me a rain/B bike that'll save time on the tire swaps. Friday night I decided I wasn't going to push it on my mostly worn tires so I picked up a set of Pirelli sticky tires. I finished on the top of the podium in GTL, P-89 and ULSB. Yet another shout out to the Butlers for all the bbq goodness Saturday night. It was good to re-connect with some of the TTD family as well. I missed the Jersey track days and I'll be missing the NY ones too so I had to settle for touching base with my other track family between races and during the evening. Of course thanks to the LDR crew for all the support! It wouldn't be the same without you guys!

Basic top end maintenance stuff. Honed cylinders, replaced piston rings,valve seals, keepers and replaced a cam chain guide and tensioner that needed it. New clutch friction plates, o-rings, gaskets, spark plugs, etc. I had no intention of building a monster Hawk. So far the thing limiting my top speed has been me.

the mojo is in the beard but having someone as stellar as Scott go through your motor every once in a while doesnt hurt either
Congrats on an amazing weekend!

Glad to hear the Hawk is back in shape, looking forward to trying to make your life difficult soon.![]()
01:21.700 was my best for the weekend. My PB is 01:21.693. I was that close to a new pb.
I'm locking myself in my trailer at night from now on. Creeper.
I didn't grab the worn parts although now I wish I did for an art project. He sent a disk with photos on it (really!) and I'll have a look through those. He thought that maybe the previous builder had installed the guide incorrectly because it was just the one that was worn. There were some stripped threads on the tensioner.
That's the current plan and why I haven't bumped yet.
Nothing would make me happier! Well, maybe some things. Regardless, I'm looking forward to racing with you again!

I'm going to post up an advice thread here and on the Hawk forum after the next round. Maybe I should do it sooner than later but I'm trying to not count my chickens before they hatch. I'd love to source the gears (and maybe chain) second hand. Borrow, rent, lease, buy or whatever. It seems ridiculous to buy a new set for the one weekend in my life that I'll ever use it.
ROC = October 17-20
I have a metric shit ton of questions but I guess that goes without saying. Gotta start making a list.

Nice report. I like very much.
Awesome job Johnny!!
Nice job Brother ! Thanks for your help this weekend as well, thought I was going to die
I appreciate the offer but I think my wife is on board with the trip. Not that she'll be a good pit crew but she takes priority. We'll probably turn it into a mini vacation visiting family/friends down there anyway.
That was an amazing recovery! I had the undertaker on speed dial Saturday night and then Sunday you're out there ripping out PB's! Pretty wicked!
