Saturday, Race 10 (MWGP) - A frustrating race as I figured I was stuck at 19's and watched the lead pack disappear as a result. As always, I stayed as consistent as possible posting most of my lap times within hundredths of each other. Placed 4th after a rider got tangled up with Cronin in T2.
Sunday was a new day. Last couple weekends I'd been working on my shock settings in order to keep the bike from squatting under acceleration. Couple that with working on a few problem areas of mine and things worked out pretty well as I managed to post a single 18.8 in practice. Once Brett told me about that I knew I was going in the right direction and looked forward to backing it up.
Sunday, Race 4 (UNSS) - A pretty exciting race toward the end. I maintained 3rd position for quite a while as I was reeling in and studying the lines of bike 717 of Tony Esposito. I haven't spent a lot of time around him but saw a couple places where I could launch an assault on his 2nd place position.
On lap 5 I tailed the 717 within a wheel but knew Greenwood was on his was by so I decided to take a very wide line going into T6 to let him by. That turned out to be a not-so-great decision as I'd see 717 gap me by at least 8 bikes going into T9. Not a problem. Kept my cool and reeled him back in just in time for the white flag going into T1.
Made my move into 2nd place just as we exited T5 down the hill under braking which Tony would heavily protest as we worked up into T7 where his wheel eventually disappeared from my peripheral.
Stayed in 2nd place until the checkered and backed up my practice times with many more 18's and narily missed seeing a 17.
Sunday, Race 7 (MWSS) - I'll save the talk about the weather delay but I do wish that I got some of that lightning on camera. It was an intense sensation to come over the hill and see bolts striking then seeing the same thing coming down T9....the turbulence in the weather at that time had me awe-struck.
As far as the race itself, placed 1st uncontested from the drop of the green flag.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
Bergs,
I saw you look back and wave me to the inside... and take that wide line you described. Problem was that I wasnt close enough to really pass you there...
I apreciate you moving over, but it was completely unnecessary. As you moved and I went by, I knew you just ruined your position with the rider you were chasing.
In the future, I wouldnt be concerned with us, just keep doing what your doing and for the most part, when the expert come by, we try to not disrupt your battle too badly. :-)
Nice job on the new PB.
Thanks all. Really pleased with this weekend.
Thank you Scott for chiming in. I knew it wasn't a great decision once T6 came up. Thought you were faster than that.
I'll hold my line and keep looking forward from now on.

I know how you really gained all that time. You spent more time thinking about riding than you did with coming up with fake names for me. Not a single one this weekend and you even used my real name here. I'm disappointed in you. and stay on the pavement next time you pass me, you had plenty of room.
great racing this weekend.

I certainly learned a lot this past weekend and yes, that race will be one to look back on.
Thanks Freddy.
I might need to consider enhancing or completely changing my machine before going that deep. I planned on getting a newer bike once I hit 17's on this one but if you think this one can do better then I'll happily add some parts to it and ride further into the teens.
Sorry I didn't stop by on Saturday. You guys gonna be up for the next round?
Bryce,
My apologies.
Thanks, darlin'.

I wish I could get stuck in the 19's.
Sounds like UNSS was one to see!

Of the few times I've been around him, Tony has been a great competitor and quite a challenge for me to get in front of and stay there.
I didn't mention it in the OP but he and I were back and forth a few times in that race. Never before have I stalked another competitor so diligently and not succeeded in forcing some kind of mistake.
I'd get up on him going into 1, nothing. Tried both the inside and out of 3, nothing. Tried to out-drive exiting 10, nothing. Leaned on him a few times going into 11, nothing. The man is a machine!
Might wanna dust 'em off and condition 'em...
