Sooo, I don't have the energy to post a full report from my iPhone tonight, but here's a quick run down, and I'll type up a full report tomorrow.
It was quite an emotionally wrenching weekend. Made my debut as an amateur with 2 consecutive crashes in practices due to a mechanical issue, and then finished in my races as follows:
Lightweight superbike: 4th
Lightweight grand prix: 6th
GTL: 5th
Overall, extremely happy with the results, just disappointed I had to ruin a bunch of equipment to get there, because of a freezing brake master cylinder. Best laptime was 1:22.2...I had a blast racing with all of you, a huge thanks to the turn 1a crew and low down racing, it was great hanging out and getting tons of help and support! Full report tomorrow....
Now, it's time for PBR to kill the pain baby!

damn man I didn't know about the crashes. never made my way down to that end of the paddock this weekend with the exception of watching a couple races from 1A. Glad you weren't hurt though.
good finishes though. keep it up.

Its unfortunate about the M/C but as you pointed out, the crashes shouldn't be as unsettling now that you know it wasn't a rider input error, just an equipment malfunction.
Congrats on the finishes! Those are very impressive results for being new to the field![]()
Damn you're turning some quick laps! I assume that the M/C was the reason for the front end unsettling in one last weekend?

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
It very well could have been, I didnt even give that a thought. I assumed it was because of my forks being undersprung, and I fixed that. But it makes sense that it could have been my master cyl then too, and it just wasn't bad enough to completely wash the front. this weekend it sure did!![]()

Ouch, sorry to hear about the crashes but as the others have mentioned you can go forward without any doubts since you know it was mechanical.
It sounds like you bounced back well, your finishes are pretty damn good! Congrats on the weekend despite the issues.

thanks for all the kind words guys.
i was really happy to come out somewhat competitive after the crashes, i was feeling pretty discouraged at the time, thinking "way to start out dumbass". i was hoping to perform a little better for my first weekend in AM.
unfortunately, i wasnt able to practice once we troubleshot the problem, but after a new master cylinder and 'stone sneakers form miles, the bike performed great. aside from a couple oh shit moments that i induced from being tired, everything felt solid and back to normal. im really glad i noticed the front wheel was locked solid when i picked the bike up from the turn one grass before the wrecker took it away. that was my major clue to a brake issue, and the fact i washed the front two consecutive days in heavy braking areas. its funny how tires dont like to hold you upright under full braking and lean...owwwieee.
i had a great time dicing it up with a few guys, but honestly i cant remember everyones numbers. i was just concentrating on relaxing, going as fast as i could, and not getting heatstroke! i know i had a good battle in GTL with a ninja 650 from rsp racing; it stands out as one of the passes i had to work the hardest and longest for. it went on for like 5 laps, showing a wheel, oh, shit cant stick it, show a wheel, shit...haha. thats exactly why i started doing this, i had a freaking blast!
cant wait to be back in september for more, i'll have to miss august due to prior engagements. its probably a good thing though, i have some parts to buy, a helmet to replace, and a suit to repair or replace... it was an expensive weekend. oh, dont forget the ducati sunglasses and tent my fucking puppy chowed down while i was racing GTL. jeeez.

Good job man. Glad you got that thing ironed out. You're ballsy as shit going out there with an "untested" setup.

thanks! i ran the old ones for a short time in practice, and crashed. i knew they were probably not the problem, but to rule out one variable, i bought new ones from miles (ouch!) after the first crash. that damn master cylinder cost me a lot. all ended up coming out good though, in the end. and now i have a couple ok take offs to save me in a pinch.
ps: look me up when you have more![]()
