This is my 2nd round of racing, 1st report...
Showed up Saturday morning needing to do a ton to my bike, I was thankful it was raining because I knew I wouldn't race in the rain...not yet anyway Last round I went wide in 3 and hit the ditch, dented both rims, so in between rounds I had to source a set of Ducati 848 rims. Holy expensive Batman! I ended up getting quite a deal from someone on the Ducati forums. Also needed new front rotors due to the stock ones being warped. I bought some no name Hong Kong rotors and rolled the dice...see thread in general bike section...I got lots of help from GingahNinjah, NHbubba, Jasnmar and I'm sure a few others. Handed the new rims to Kurtz for a set of Supercorsa V2's (omg what a great tire!! Thanks Mike, I love them!) Got the wheels back, installed the Chinese rotors and new EBC pads. Again, lots of help from my friends. Spent the rest of Saturday watching you crazy people race. Had a nice lunch at Makris. Came back for the 'party' that night...Those of you who saw me know I had fun!!!
Sunday morning....I get back from the hotel late...8am. Run thru tech, practice and get ready for race 1. I'm in row 2 of the second wave. Green flag and I get the holeshot with my front tire 2 feet in the air...I know that's not the fast way, but it looks killer take turn 1 and I'm leading. I get to the halfway point and I'm still in the lead. About that point I get passed by Cole. I forget his number, but he's fast. We pass eachother a few times, which I love, and unfortunately he crashes out in 6. I go the last 2 or 3 laps and take the win!! My first win. Im very excited. Even though i start in wave 2, i pass everyone in wave 1 except the wave 1 winner. Man the race felt good. Get back to the garage and find out I've got a new pb of 1:23.1 now I'm really smiling!! The adrenaline is flowing and I feel awesome. Damn these brakes are good, wow these tires are good!! Bad news, race 10 is like 3 hours away...I goto Brookside for lunch, my body needs fuel. Back to the track and ready for race 10....10A actually. Row 2 of my wave and i get the holeshot again and lead most of the race till i go too hot into 1, Cole passes me. I get back on track, after going thru the grass a bit, and try to catch Cole. I reel him in a bit and get closer, but overshoot 3 and he pulls away...going into 9 there's rocks all over the race line...fuck this is gonna hurt. I stand it up and brake hard...Real hard. I make it to the outside of 9 and as soon as the track ends the bike goes down on the left. I roll and tumble for a year and a half. Bike is on its side, still running. Not good. Not good at all. I jump up and shut it off....Then lay back down on the grass...self assess. Nothing broken, not too much pain. I get up and signal to the cornerworker I'm ok. No clue how I picked up the bike but I stood with my back to it and heaved as hard as I could. Stood it up and fired it back up..at this point there's maybe 1 lap left...I'm done. Limp it back to the pits and put it away. Ouch. Not bad damage though. I get changed and packed up asap as I've got tickets to the Patriots game....pressed for time. I find out later Sunday I ran a 1:22.4...A new personal best!!!!
Today was tough, sore as hell, but the entire weekend was awesome. Great time with all you guys and girls, from the rainy racing, to the pit bike races, the incredible Halloween party and fire, the crazy costumes (still freaked out by you Smutty) and the great day Sunday, to the Pats win sunday night. Man, I need a few days off now...lol
Thanks to everyone, those who helped me know who you are. Thank you!
