Don't think I've ever done one of these things before.
I can't get up to the track until late Friday night, so first practice on Saturday I have to get up to speed quick. I concentrate on the EX500 on Saturday and was able to get in the mid 21's right away. I knew that was gonna be good.
Race 5 I get a good start, neck and neck with BJ into 1. No one beats me through 1. I wait til he lets off, stretch the throttle cable a little harder, and never look back. I win the race and with it, the P-Twins championship. My first after being very close the last 2 years.
Sunday practice I get used to the SV and tow Pete (Oreo) around. We get through some heavy traffic and I look back-he's still right there! I'm not sure that's really a good thing (for me).
Race 5 MWPT. This race is a barn burner! You can be 1st and 4th all in the same lap. Epic battles with Brian Kent and Scott Mullin as always. I've never raced so close to someone as I have with Brian. Literally side by side through 1, 1A, and into 2. Some laps I was 1st, some laps I was 4th. I ended 2nd with a new PB of 1:17.2
Race 7 LWSS. Did I already use the term barn burner for the last race? I end up last going into turn 1, pass like 6 people on the outside, and line up behind Pete in 2. I panic brake to the inside of Pete through 3. Then I have to go absolutely ape trying to get by Brian again. I try him everywhere. Finally I get him by doing a super bonzai late braking move on the outside of 6. I can see Scott, Todd, and Ricky up ahead. Then Todd goes down in front of us in 12, and Ricky is in the grass! Scott takes the lead, and I settle behind Ricky rejoing the track on the straight. Ricky passes Scott for the win, and I am able to reel in Scott but not pass before a red flag.
Well third isn't bad on my MW P-Twins bike in LWSS so I'll take it! (Actual contingency, woohoo!)
And a new PB of 1:17.08!
I never thought I would have to have a goal of 16's someday, but bring it on, baby!!!!!!!!!!
